Max buyin amounts
When did the max buying for what seems like most $1/$2 NLH game go from $200 up to $300, $500 or even $750? What happened to 100x the big blind i thought was “standard”?

Deeper stacks are better
@Peeler better for who? Definitely not for bringing amateur/new players into the game. I have asked several people to come check out rooms with me. When they hear the max by in it scares most of them off. There are a lot of people around where I live that don’t wanna have to shell out $500 to go play cards.
@DirtyMoney They can buy in for $200 if they want
@Peeler yes they could even buy in for $60 at some places. I personally wouldn’t sit down at a 1/2 nlh table with $60 when the 9 other people at the table have $500+. Would you?
@DirtyMoney No of course not. If you want to introduce someone new to poker I wouldn't recommend any public live game. Either online microstakes or a friendly low stakes home game is gonna be the best way.
