Just got home from a weekend with the Hubby in Vegas!!! I wrote a yearly report on 4/1/ in the Trip Planning Forum section, lists all of the Vegas Poker rooms that are decent, check it out. Here is a recap to that report since things got exciting this past weekend.

Venetian: Deep Stack tourny time. Wow, this tournament is run top notch, great guys at the poker room, Tommy, Anthony and Daniel run things very smoothly. Tournaments start at 6PM which was not a favorite time for us. They are competing with the Bellagio WPT events this week. Our plan was to get the most tourney play in during the day and play cash at night, we played the 12pm Venetian tourny for 150.00, then we would play the 80.00 satellite to try and get into the 6PM 300.00 tourney. Most of the people were locals and alot of people that flew in for the Bellagio tourneys. Very serious players. All tourney play here did not work out as planned for us, we were moved alot and/or card dead so we either played cash and did very well or headed over to the Bellagio, this is where it gets exciting!

Bellagio: Never was much of a Bellagio player since the room is not as nice as the Venetian and the people are mostly arrogant old men players. The tourny room is located on the opposite end of the casino, it has a great set up and view of the fountains, definatly stop by check it out and walk across the room, be careful where you step there are poker pros everywhere, I almost pushed Mark Seif trying to get to the balcony. The view is spectacular from this angle. Anyway, back in the room they are holding 200+ satellites to get into their 1000.00 7:15PM tourneys. Room was packed with pros, Scotty Nguyen stood next to me eating a sandwich, etc. It was the Ladies tournament event, I played in their 350.00 satellite and got pounded by JJ, lady that wears the funny hats, every time on my button so I didn't make it very far, I think she had a lock down on me since I was 2nd in chip lead at the table til the end. ALso, saw Kathy L., Linda J., Clowie G., etc. Room was buzzing!

Okay have to write about one good and bad hand.
Holding AK spades one from the button, I limp in which I never do, just trying to change it up, was at a very aggressive 2/5 table at the Bellagio. Flop comes KJ10 2 spades, this lady checks to me, I bet out 45.00, she raises to 145.00, I have top pair and a flush draw, I call. Turn is no help. I check she bets 150.00 I go all in for 300.00 total, she calls. She turns over AQ for a made straight on the flop, I scream out spade and the dealer turns over Q of spades!!!!!!!!!Hallelluiah!!!!

Okay, now my bad beat story, I have Q10 on the button, every one limps in for 10.00. Flop comes KJ3 rainbow. New scarred looking player checks, very good player to my right with over 1800.00+ in front of him checks and I bet 45.00, both players call. Turn comes a 9, new player goes all in for 350.00 more, 2nd player thinks along time and goes all in for 1800+, OMG!!!, I had to take a moment to find my breath and then study the board, no flush draw, no pair on the board, no higher straigt, WTF! I have the nuts!! I called! I threw out my 800.00 on the table and stopped breathing, new player has trip 9's, 2nd player has the exact same hand as me, Q10, which is what I thought, the whole table stood up to see the river, its a 3 for for a full house. I lose 350.00, phew! Get me out of this town...

What a rush in Vegas, crazy up and down swings, anyway, Bellagio cash games were great! Though I love Venetian, cash games and always play there, I am not to crazy about the night time floor staff, 2 tall goons that look alike are so arrogant and do nothing but stand around, couldn't get them to swipe my card for anything, never smile, never helpful. The daytime staff is much better but probably because there are enough women running it :-)!

Stopped by the Wynn Poker room to check things out and checked right out, boring. Champagne buffett was good.

Caesars was dead, only 1 2/5 table with Ian Woodley at the table, the London millionaire poker pro, very funny.

Also, stopped at Planet Hollywood to check out the car I am going to win during their May drawing, lost 300.00 there with AA 3 times. Nice room, nice dealers, rake is 10% or 4.00 but they also take out 1.00 for the high hand so by the time you tip a 1.00 it cost 6.00 every winning hand, too costly not enough action. No 2/5 table at the time.

Weather is beautiful this time of year! Going back to the Bellagio and Venetian this week! See you there.

  1. Congrats on your Royal Flush!

  2. Very nice T.R. seeing the pros at Bellagio is a cool thing.

However, I am confused on this "Holding AK spades one from the button, I limp in which I never do, just trying to change it up, was at a very aggressive 2/5 table at the Bellagio. Flop comes KJ10 2 spades, this lady checks to me, I bet out 45.00, she raises to 145.00, I have top pair and a flush draw, I call. Turn is no help. Turn is no help, I check, she bets, I go all in.
How did you check first from the button?

Lucky that mr $1,800 didn't have the set and boat up and take all your roll. I have twice been in same situation where two others have called me all in when i am sitting on the nuts and I know I need to avoid the board pairing on the river... Makes you wanna scream.

  3. Hmmm, I guess I didn't check first then, she must of just bet out first and I was hoping she would check. I hate replaying my hands because I never get the sequence right but I thought it was such a great river everyone would love to see how it can sometimes happen.

As far as the 1800 all-in having trips, I considered if briefly but thought he was too good a player to go all in and possibly lose most of his stack with a 4 outer. He had to put one of us on the straight.

    Thanks for reading!

BTW, my run at Bellagio is over, I went back on Thursday on a layover and loss most of my weekend win in 2 hours play. :disappointed:
