EA25 - Our Silver Anniversary
Your heroes started the 25th EA at the Planet Hollywood. SoCal and I met at 10pm to grab some dinner first. We ate at PF Chang's, a great restaurant. I wanted a nice meal before playing. I don't like to play hungry. LVM and Minton met us in the poker room at 11pm.
I have always found the games at PH to be easier than the average game in town. The reason for this is the lack of pros in the games. This is a tourist house. Other than our foursome, I only saw 2 other guys that I had played against. And there were 4 full games going.
I have often wondered why the games are softer. I think a big part of it is the rake and the jackpot drop. They drop $5 and $2. It's the highest rake in town. It's an interesting conundrum. The rake drives the nits nuts, and it keeps the pros away, but the games are soft. The only players left are tourists. Here is a question that all of you should consider: Do I care about the lowest rake in town or do I want to make the most money? I won $35. Not a lot, but that makes three times in a row that I have beat that game.
We left PH and went to the TI, my old job. We arrived at around 1:30am and they had 2 games. I sat down at one and the other guys sat at the other game. The third hand I saw was an $800 pot with one guy going all-in with bottom two pairs and a drunk calling him with top pair. I really liked this game.
After five minutes, there was a dealer change. Rich V got in the box. Many of you have seen Rich deal some of the WSOP final tables. Famous dealers like Rich and Nam are the exclusive property of the TI. I won $180 in 20 minutes.
Mike, Mike & I then walked over to the Mirage to look for a game. It was way past Minton's bedtime so he went home (I gave him a lock of my hair so that he could complete his Blockhead doll, what a groupy!). There were two games of 1-2 NL going, both were full.
So we walked over to the IP. They also had two games going, all 3 of us got in. This game was good. Eight handed with at least 4 callers for every flop. I won my money off of a guy visiting from Romania. Nice guy. I asked him if he know the Dracula's. Did his kids to to school with their kids, play on the same soccer team, etc. He said that was an American myth. Wow, who knew? And so close to Halloween. I won $120.
So I ended up winning $335 for this EA. Many of you think we live glamorous, exciting lives of leisure. That our job is an easy job. Well on this night my tag team partner, LVM went above and beyond to provide the poker world with his presence. Mike has strep throat and a 105-degree fever. But knowing what the 25th EA means to you fans, he stepped up and made it all the way to the IP. I also think his ovaries hurt, but I can't substantiate that. What a champion!
CU at EA 26!
