First Tymer
Well it was my first time to Vegas, and even though overall I was impressed and had a great time kinda confused where the nick name Sin City came from, lol. No I gotta say it was a nice get away. I was some what disappointed in the poker rooms however. I visited all on the strip and played @ the Flamingo, Bellagio, Caesers Palace, and of course Harrahs. The poker room at the Flamingo was the best on the strip. It also happened to be where I was staying. Maybe it was just the slow time of year, but the Flamingo had the most action goin of any other poker room on the strip. As far as tournaments go I did not find any I wanted to play as I said wasn't much action poker wise in the city of sin.

Flamingo Poker Room : the best on the strip? Hmmm. The Venetian , Wynn, and MGM might have something to say about that.
Best on the Strip??? Caesars, Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn, MGM.......
Were you staying in the same Las Vegas that I know and love????
I found this to be quite humorous as well.......
@Sydsdad
ditto
Leave the man alone. There's nothing wrong with the Flamingo.
@Sydsdad
Me too......it seems this trip report countered most other posts I've read.
"Laughable Man"
Seems to me most peoples favorite room is the one they did the best in, which I would assume to be the case here.
That said, the Flamingo is pretty far down my list.
My favorite poker room also happens to be where I stayed and won first place. (Tournament, 40 players? $65 buy in. Treasure Island. March 07)
That said, I thought the Flamingo wasnt bad, but dont know if I agree to the best either. However my standards might be a bit lower having grow(ed) up in a trailer park LOL.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, guys.
However, from a strictly financial point of view, I will not give my patronage to any room that has a $5+1 rake when there are other options. All Harrahs properties except for Caesars has a #5+1 rake now, whereas MGM Mirage properties as well as Venetian and Wynn are $4 rake.
I agree with LVM on the rake issue. That issue aside, I like the Flamingo poker room. Ok, it isn't as nice as the Venetian and its different than the MGM, but it has a great location if you are a tourist, good management, good dealers, autoshufflers, computerized player list, fast drink service, and beatable competition. If you like IP, as many do, the Flamingo is a step up, IMHO (except for the comps not being as good).
