My first trip to VEGAS! 21 and fun.

Well it was an exciting trip to say the least, and there's plenty of stories to tell.

I'm driving up with my friend Rob and meeting my buddies Abe and Mylan when I get there.

Well, we get there early and I bet the over on the Cardinals game with the Cardinals to win (I live in AZ). My first sports bet ever is a WINNER!

So I decide to relax a bit and eat. We begin to drink in the hotel (Flamingo) and decide to go over to O'Sheas to eat.

I see the tables by the door and I decide to play. It's limit $1 blinds with a $5 spread. I get dealt aces my first hand and played it foolishly, but won it.

FYI: COLD. DOORS WERE OPEN.

I end up bluffing at O'Sheas alot, with big payouts. I bluff to the river Q with 5 high and the guy folds J/J. I show him my bluff and he says,"I thought you hit that QUEEN." What?!

At the end of the night, my buddies decide to grab me so I bluff the last hand hard the whole way and get this cute girl to fold. I get her phone number since she wanted me to teach her to play she said.

I end up going to some outside bar and drinking and dancing. My friend Abe was trying to get into fights and I put him in his place reaaaal quick. We head to O'Sheas for BLACKJACK and I proceed to lose... Alot... Drunk.

-$200

We crash and Abe and Mylan are broke for some reason. So they decide to go with me to Hooters to eat.

We eat Hooters, I get a picture with some babes, and then they leave for a flight. I decide to stick around and use $100 FREE slot play.

WORST.

DECISION.

EVER.

See, to win, you must get $1700 credits for hit the jackpot. Well I kept hitting big, but stuck around $1000 credits. It was $2 per credit and the jackpot was $_$_$.

So of course I get down to $190 credits and it goes $_$_BAR. Screw this slot machine.

-NO LOSS/GAIN, just part of my soul died.

After leaving finally I see MGM and remember the small soft play I heard about. The room was nice and I get sit at a table where some donkey older guy is trying to play pro, wearing sunglasses at a $1/$2.

I slow play 8s and flop a set. I get four way action and hit the boat on the river. I check raise it and take down a very nice pot. Otherwise, everything was tight, no one was betting much, and it wasn't worth it to get priced in usually.

So I leave a happy camper and go back to meet up with Rob. We play some roulette and blackjack, nothing big or anything.

I run over to Caesar's Palace, nice place, but I don't play.

The next day I head over to Bellagio for my TEST. I heard the competition was fierce, and that was WRONG.

First of all, Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan walked right by me and Doyle Brunson ran into my chair on the way to the poker room. Good stuff.

A couple good hands here. I play 10/10 strong raising $20 and getting two callers. Luckily, 10 shows up on the flop as the highest card. We all check. The turn comes and ACE. Here come the bets. River blanks and I take a VERY NICE pot. I'm very happy.

Probably the best/worst play at Bellagio:

I check the BB with 10/7 suited and the flop comes out 10/5/4. Two people check and this guy who I'm sure is a regular bets out $20. I think of my options but feel strong with my 10, so I call. The other two fold. The turn is a 5, so I hit two pair. I check to him and he bets $70. Huge over bet.

I am inclined to fold at first, but then I think he might be trying to bully me. I think about it for around 2 minutes and push all in.

The guy goes ballistic. He's calling out,"Do you have 4/5? Pocket 10s?" And I feel like he has me beat now. He keeps talking about how I can sit in the tank so long and push and why I would take so long and how that is SO SICK. He eventually mucks and looks so disgusted. I muck as well and happily take the pot.

A few hands later I have 6/6 and raise and get a re-raise. I call and the flop is 4/5/7. I raise and the guy to my right goes all in. I call. He has aces, but the turn comes an 8, followed by a heart to give me a flush on top of that. Another big hand and I come out of Bellagio a big winner.

+$400

We do the whole tourist thing and I check Bellagio fountains, Mirage volacano, and the TI Sirens show.

Which leads me to the Venetian.

I buy-in for the minimum since I don't want to risk too much and I'm tired.

Only notable hand is when I get Q/Q and raise it $20. 2 callers. Flop comes a beautiful set for me. I push all in, TWO CALLERS. One guy has a lower set, the other has a runner/runner diamond draw. He hits it. I leave disgusted.

-$100

We head back to the room and I'm a bit bummed. I call the girl I beat at O'Sheas and needless to say I gave her a few tips alright. ;)

SOLID.

So after that it's 3am, and I roll down to blackjack and win a cool $125.

I stop at a slot machine to tie my shoe when this nice old black guy approaches me.

OBG: You winning?
ME: Yeah man, having a good time. You?
OBG: Yeah I am. So you good?
ME: Huh?
OBG: You good? *Sniffs nose with finger* You know?
ME: AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! GET AWAY!

Okay that last part didn't happen, I just kindly declined, but what the hell is that all about? IN THE CASINO of all things.

So the next day we go to Red Lobster and it's delicious. I go back to O'Sheas and grind out $25 and Rob leaves for home. I decide to see Price Is Right which was a great show, but when I got the tickets, @11am, I had plenty of time to spare...

And here comes...

The best part of my trip report.

So I sit at Bally's, a new table is made with me in seat one. I only buy-in for $150. $1/$2. I win a nice $90 pot with K/K and I am loving it. I just want to waste time until the show.

I get K/K again about four hands later. I raise $22 and get FOUR callers. Flop brings a KING and two spades. I bet $40, get called and re-raised by an older gentleman. I call and the turn comes another spade. I raise $75 and it's folded to the older gentleman. He raises over the top and I push all in and get insta-called by him. He has the nut flush, but the river is a KING!

I hit the quad KKKK and get the HIGH HAND JACKPOT :)

It was great and I ended up walking away big from that table. Kept running well and didn't want to leave, but the Price Is Right was starting!

Overall the trip was a success and I played some great poker overall. :D No complaints. I will definitely play at Caesars, Mirage, and IP when I go back next time.

  1. @onebadace

IMO, the best part of your trip report was NOT the hand at Bally's...

  2. JJmax is correct. :sunglasses:

BTW, awesome report. Oh, to be young again!

  3. Okay okay true. I meant the best POKER related thing about my trip report. That girl is still texting me and I'm going back in March and so is she! She's pretty cute too, plays poker, and she's funny, so I could very well marry her. Hahaha.

  4. Free slot play where u have to hit a jackpot to win,is a bad decision and just a big waste of time...

  5. Nice. Good job playing well and posting a win/score (wink, wink) on your FIRST TRIP.

Now prepare to become a degenerate gambler like the rest of us.
