You know you are a little early for your flight when the earlier flight going to the same destination is still at the terminal. Here I am at McCarran Airport availing myself of the free WiFi service they are providing. (Is this new? I don't remember it being available last June.) I have some time to kill.

Thu.

Arrived on time at McCarran a little early 10:15 pm. Screwed up and ended up taking an $19 taxi ride to the IP. Boy Harrah's is throwing around free rooms to TR clients like they're samples of crack. All 4 nights, Thu, Fri , Sat, Sun are free/comped. If I am getting free rooms with what and how I play ANYONE can get these. I arrive at The IP at 11 ish, go to my room drop my stuff off in the room and head off to Harrah's for their $150 tournament. Didn't last very long, forget the hand that I got knocked out on. Bought into 1-2 at Harrahs after the tourney, played till 5:30 am got felted and gave up.

oops Boarding now.... Continued Wed. morning

Fri

Walking back to the IP around the back by the Monorail I see the Steak and egg special at the diner in Harrahs and decide to do that. The steak and eggs I had at Binions lat trip was better and cheaper. After breakfast I checked out the poker room at the IP, the table looked good so I sat down. Lose some not happy hit the room at 9 ish.
Nap
Got up around 2, The Deuce driver gave me a free ride to Slots of Fun to buy a 3 day bus pass. HUGE line for the bus at Slots of fun. Holdem has been unkind to me so lets try some PLO Omaha. Get to the Venetian, (wow, this place does smell weird) there is a 1-2 PLO Omaha game running with a list. I sign up and sit down at 1-2 Holdem till I get called. 3 hands later I get called. The woman at the counter says to go to table 1, I sit down, ask about the buy in limits, surprised by the $1000 max buy in, get dealt 2 cards, oops I am at table 10, a 2-5 NL game. I get up find table 1 way in the back in the secluded area. Play for about an hour, have an all middle card double suited hand, flop comes middle cards. Look at he board, look at my hand, look at the boar, look at my hand, count 5,6,7,8,9 for a straight. A player across the table bets out, folded to me, I push All in, folded to better, he thinks for a minute and calls. I look at the board and realize there is no possible straight, I have a gut shot (I was counting 3 hole cards) I sigh tell him I misread my cards, he says that that was what he thought, I miss,I lose, I leave. All the while Clem from AVP is sitting to my left.
Off to Bills to scope it out for my ride at 7. 1 Table running list for another that the pit said would open at 7. It is a little after 6 so I decide not to wait and walk to Bally's and get a seat right away. Stay till just before 8 down a little and go back t Bills to catch my ride to the AVP dinner.
Dinner is Me, AlaskaGal, Clem, 24Fanatic, and Minton at Tommy Rockers. It is comedy night and as we get there the MC has some of the audience coming PENGUIN up and telling a joke for a prize. We are off to the left of the stage and can't hear very well but PENGUIN it is not funny. The comediens ranged from horrible, the swearing New Yorker, to funny, the woman originally from Canada. The asian guy was a little funny except all his material was pilfered from better comedians. The Phyllis Diller impersonator was PENGUIN just weird.
After dinner we went to the IP to see if they would start a mixed game for us. While negotiations were going on I played a little 1-2 Till it was decided to go to the TI instead. When I got to the TI Clem, 24fanatic and another AVPer were trying to figure out what to do because there was a group from Vancouver, that were on the same flight as me. It ends up Me, Clem and the other Vancouver group, playing 2-4 limit, Crazy Pineapple, Razz, Omaha 8, and something else I don't remember. I play through 1 round of each and I'm up $95 so I leave. Yay my first up session of the weekend.
Walk back to The IP. Sit in at 1-2 soft table, making money, by 8:30. Get pocket 4s, in early position, folded to me raise to $12 get called by 1 player, 4 7 10 rainbow, check, other player bets out I raise ($15 - $50 maybe I don't remember). he goes all in, I'm covered with about $350 left. I thin he is on an over pair, 2 pair makes no sense, I take forever but I finally call. He asks me if I have pocket 10's. WHY WOULDN'T I INSTA CALL WITH TOP SET BUDDY OF COURSE I DON"T HAVE POCKET 10's. I politely say Uhm no and flip over my pocket 4's and lose to his set of 7's. I hate poker. Tell him the only silver lining is I can't go on tilt when you go to bed.

Sat

Get up around 10:30. Drag myself out of bed, plan is to go to the WSOP final table, Get to the Rio shuttle and end up at the end of a loooooooooooooooooooong line, Get in at 1 pm. Leave at 5:30 only Schafer and Aikenhead knocked out. Dinner at the Rio Buffet and off to the AVP tornament at Harrah's. Don't last too long, level 4 I think, flopped set of Q's beaten by a flopped Broadway on a A, K, J board. Sign up for 1-2 and they finally open a table , play for 40 minutes but not feeling like playing I decide to check out the WSOP final. Catch the last shuttle to the Rio at 11:45 Get to the Rio and there is a line of about 20 people. Wait 10 - 15 minutes and they let us into the next hallway.
Wait there for a couple of minutes and just as there letting us in to the theatre Ivey is all in with AK against Moon's AQ. The lady at the door is telling us to hurry up and go in, and we're telling her to leave us alone were trying to watch this hand on the monitor. Queen in the window, Ivey gets knocked out. Can I say I was there live when Ivey got knocked out? I think I can and I'm sticking with that story. Ivey was the third one out so from 5:30 to 12:00 all they did was push chips around the table.
Watching live poker is tedious, long stretches of nothing interrupted by moments of excitement. All the players looked like zombies and the action was tight. Things after a break which seemed to come an hour early picked up (maybe they force fed the players 6 Red Bulls each to wake them up). You can watch it on TV to see the results, but it finally ended close to 6am. Steak and eggs at Bill's, better than Harrah's but over seasoned.

Sun

Go back to the room to freshen up and check the tornament schedule, decide to try the cheap tourney at Excalibur at 9am. Hop on the Deuce and arrive just in time. Lack of sleep has me feeling and acting a bit goofy. But the table is the most passive I have ever seen and the structure is horrible. I push push push and get lucky when I need to and win. Take $200 of my winnings and buy into 1-2. After an hour or so I am down $60 and the 1 pm tournament is about to start, This table is almost as passive but this time my luck doesn't hold and I'm out on the 2nd level. Decide to rebuy and make it to about 15 of 30. Head on back to the IP for a nap.
Get up in time for the 7 pm start of the mixed game at the IP. I okay through the full rotation once, end up down a little. The 1-2 game here looks slow so I go back to my room to see what tourneys are coming up that i can still buy into with my last $90. The $70 1 am at Ceasars is soonest and in my budget so off i go. Last till 2:30 in this one, don't make the money. Shuffle off to the IP to get some sleep before my flight. Walk by the poker room. They are running a 1-2 and a 2-5. The 1-2 has at least 4 drunk fish at it, and 24fanatic who is playing says it's really soft. The 2-5 has 5 players, 2 of which are going nuts, blind $60 raises, agreeing to shoot the hand blind for $100 - $200, playing with $1000+ stacks.
I put my name on the 1-2 list, 2nd in line, and head to the ATM for ammo. This was not in my game plan, I brought what I was comfortable losing but tables like these don't happen every day. I didn't have enough to weather the swings I would need to at the 2-5 the way they were playing. I get my seat and only one drunk fish has busted out. I plan on staying out of 24fanatics way but since by now he sleeping more than he is playing it isn't a problem. Wow, drunk sleep deprived people play bad. I start ordering white russians to not appear as a nit trying to take advantage. I end up winning more from the tighter players than the drunks. They kept throwing their money away or getting really lucky but not against me. I won most of my money from the older guy from Alberta just to my left and a local that I saw playing at Bills earlier. Lets call hi FBI because of his Tshirt. He was playing pretty good and playing the loud drunk. After losing a couple more fish he went to the 2-5 table. I stuck it out another 45 minutes or so. The 2-5 table had calmed down a little, nobody was doing the crazy 50/50, blind bet stuff anymore but it was still rollin. I sit down with the $490 ($200 buying and $290 profit) a left the 1-2 table with. Again I never really win a big pot off the crazies, I let their money flow to me through the tighter players. After a few small small wins and 2 big ones, one from FBI and another from some older nit who moved fro 1-2 to 2-5 to take advantage I am up to over $1000. At around 7:30 with 4 left at the table FBI and I are making noises like it's quitting time, the one eager player makes us stay 1 more round. I don't lose any back to the table and get up to leave. Feeling magnanamous and following FBI's lead I end up tipping the excess over $1000 to the 2 dealers who dealt my my big hands. FBI had a huge night and was up over $2200 and tipping $20 $40 per big win. A couple of the dealers had a big night that night.
Breakfast buffer at the IP using TR rewards points then off to my room to change, pack and check out by 11 to catch my 1:50 flight. Hop on the Duece which stops directly in front of the Car Rental facility near the Outlet Mall. Hop on a shuttle bus to the airport, and arrive at about 12:15. Check in, go to D terminal to my ramp and the 12:35 flight to Bellingham is still there.

You know you are a little early for your flight when the earlier flight going to the same destination is still at the terminal. Here...
