This is the summary of Day 1 for the RaiseandFold Poker Tour. 7 tournaments in 3 days.

Day 1 kicked off with only 1 tournament and it was the 10PM $65 buy in at TI.

Registered for the tournament about 830PM, the 7PM tournament was going and I noticed it only drew 20 entries. I thought that was rather wear but the counter person said the 10PM would have 3 tables going.

Arrive for the start of the tournament, at 10PM we had exactly 20 entries. They let some people enter the tournament and we were up to 24 when they decided to open a 3rd table and I was chosen to move to the new table. I hadn't played a hand yet so all was good.

This tournament is full of fish and seen it on TV and I can do it to type players. I noticed pretty early on there was groups of players that knew one another. There was a group of 4 mix of 2 men/2 women and then a trio of women in another group.

I was mixed in with the two men/women group and they all sat right next to one another at the new table. They didn't draw for spots at the new table and let people sit where they wanted when they sat down to start the table. This was a big mistake.

An interesting hand was blinds at 25/50 I am SB and it goes around and I have 6/4 OS and call the 25 looking to see a flop. Flop comes 3-5-7 rainbow and I check, it gets checked around. J on the turn, I bet 100 looking to induce action. 2 fold, one guy raises it to 400, another calls, I go all in. Raiser insta calls, the guy that called the 400 insta calls. I toss over my 6-4, the raiser turns over 4-2 and the caller has A-J. Brick city on the river and a huge 3 way pot gets shipped my way.

The guy with 4-2 rebuys the other guy leaves. 2 hands later I get A-10 DD and limp in flop the nuts and a guy tries to bluff and goes all in, he gets insta called by me and he has 7/2 os and he was sent to the rail. He said no way am I rebuying look at his stack. I was dominating.

Right before the first break and the end of rebuys a girl goes all in with Q2 os and her boy friend sitting right next to her calls with KQ OS, he wins, she says good you have my chips, give me money so I can rebuy. Ummm hello.... I brought this up at the break with the floor and they try telling me it was a standard all in move before the break yada yada, it was obvious to me and another of what really took place. This is the same guy I forced to rebuy earlier.

Hour 2 stack stayed steady. I get moved to another and blinds are only 300-600 I am in BB and it gets folded around to SB and this is one of the ladies in the three pack and one of her partners is on the table a younger girl who was nice to look at. She plunks in 300 flop comes 9-A-3 rainbow, I have J8 os, she check I check, turn J, she checks, I check. River J, she bets 600 I just call to get out cheap if I lose. I toss over the J8 she looks at her cards and slams them on the table. She turns to me and say I see how you got your stack now, I said excuse me, she said it again. I told her lady you weren't around when I got my chips and learn some etiquette on the table. She says well you just suck out a lot, I tell her then bet preflop, bet the flop and get me out. She said I had the ACE and yada yada, again she mentions the suckout. Now mind you she came to the table I was on earlier after I busted out the guy with 7/2 her first BB she crack AA with Q9 after a 9 spiked he river. I didn't remind her of it and just told her to stop talking shit and play poker. Dealer reminds me not to use foul language. LOL So as hands are going on her and her partner are talking suckouts non stop to get my goat. The suck out lady gets in a hand with a flop of QQ2 and goes all in gets insta called by AQ she has 66 and spikes a 6 on the river. I say nothing.....

We get to the final table they are paying 5 spots, I wsa the chip leader still. A few quick bust outs and we are down to 8 the suckout lady got rocked and finished 8th. Her partner finished 7th and then it was bubble time. I wsa card dead and couldn't pull off any bluffs as everytime it got to me someone was all in. We finally get to the money and this older man would get in and he would hit the river everytime. He was truly old man river and could play the part to a tee. I am in BB with about 17K left he goes all in and I look at 88 and make my stand, he flips over AK and as per his usual hits a K on the river. I leave in 5th place and win $134 after $14 tip to the house, $120 and an exit without saying a word.

The floor/counter person tries to offer me an apology for trying to argue with me regarding what took place right before the first break. I was a bit peeved about old man river and didn't say a word, took my meager winnings and exited stage left.

While this tournament structure is a nice one $3500 starting chips, 20 minute levels, the way the floor handles actions on the table is poor. The buddies that were all sitting with one another talking during the hands they are in, cell phone on the table showing pictures or something was annoying. While I understand these types of tournaments aren't supposed to be serious serious, there should be respect and the rules upheld. Why they allowed people to sit where they wanted on a new table only opened it up for problems. The lady talking about a suckout and going on and on and I get talked down to for saying "shit" I was like Ok I will just shut up and move on, but she kept it going and nothing was said.

This tournament had more women than men, there was one strong woman player, she was left in the final 4 along with another who was lucky a few times and then just acted like a bully. There was a moment at the final table where the strong lady player and I locked eye contact, she blinked and then said Hi... too funny.

If you're a serious player, this tournament is not for you. If you like to have fun and break rules, by all means rush to play this tournament.

As far as the card room is concerned, it had 3 cash games going, nothing to overly excite and the dealers in the tournament were more interested in what music was playing and were requesting to have the channels changed.

On a side note after the tournament hit the high limit tables playing black jack single deck cards face down. The dealer tells me to sit down after I stand up she says you must be a poker player all they do is stand up... ya ok, she wsa rude, I didn't stay long. To end this marathon story, cocktail waitress comes up and asks if I wanted anything to drink, I said to her do you have any Winners on tap.. she says..... sir we only have bottles.... I tell her ok bring me some out.. she finally catches on and was pretty embarrassed. That my friends was a classic moment and I got a good laugh out of it.

Todays tournament schedule is 10AM at Flamingo, 3PM Caesars and then either 7PM Venetian or 9PM Caesars depending on what happens at the 3PM.

Thanks for reading and I will post day 2 tomorrow once it's over today....

First break still in chip lead, same for second break. With rebuys tournament had 34 buys total and they paid 5 spots.

  1. The reason I personally hate rebuy tournaments is that what happened to you can happen anytime. I am not sure why casinos still offer this. Once you are out of a tournament that should be it. The only thing rebuys do its escalate the prize pool and let people who exit early another chance. As for the dealers at T1 I am surprised as this place usually gets a positive review but it's nice to hear another point of view.

  2. I really like the TI room. Sorry to hear about your experience but at least the luck turned for the worst after you made some money.

Now I played in that 10 AM tourney at Flamingo once and I will never play in that room again. The dealer forgot to deal me in once (it wasn't like I had left the table) and basically paid no attention to what was going on), just a horrible experience for me, so I hope you enjoy that one. It sounds like it has started well.
