Day 2
May 31st

Quick update on last nights flight in. As I mentioned wifey got me first class tickets so the flight was great, except for the movie – 27 Dresses…. Luckily, the NBA play-offs was on live between Boston & Detroit. Not much of an NBA fan, college is my passion, but it was something to watch.

Land in Vegas 5 min early, yeah, then the fun starts. For those who make this trip often, you are aware that the baggage claim in Vegas bites. Always do carry-on if you can. Unfortunately, spending 8 days out here forced me to check a bag. After 1 hour watching the bags go around, me and a few other passengers, no bag…. Come to find out they put our stuff on an earlier fight and it was sitting in a room next to baggage claim…UGHHH

Next it off to car rental. Got a good deal through Dollar thanks to some AVP tipsters. Line at Dollar took over an hour… UGHHHH Ended up with a nice Chrysler Sebring.

Make it over to NYNY by 12:00, check in went smoothly. Gave me a Broadway Room facing the parking lot, but who really cares about the view. (Note, looking out over the mountains as I type this is pretty cool)

Decide to head over to Rio and complete my registration. After a couple of wrong turns get over there and park in the self-park. Big mistake… I had read that the convention center was a hike, but OMG. Felt like I walked a mile….. Every time you think your close and its right around the corner there’s another long hallway. Anyways, finally make it to the Pre-registration/Will Call. This is the way to go. No line, 5 min I have my seat assignments for both events.

Event #2 – Table 32 – Seat 4
Event #7 – Table 7 – Seat 3

Not bad seats. Better than 1or 10. Makes it a little easier to follow the action.

One thing I’m going to do is make a list of “Firsts”.

- First solo trip to Vegas
- First time in WSOP
- First time exercising (Yes, I got up this morning and went for a run down the strip)
- First time going 12+ hours without placing my first bet.

That last one is getting ready to change. Its 10:30 and I’m off to find my first poker game. I will report back later on the results.

  1. Did you know you can park around the back of the Rio? There is a parking lot right near the Amazon room.

I am looking forward to hearing the rest. Good luck in your event.

  2. Thanks for the info Alaskagal. I guess thats what you get for going at 12:30 in the morning and you've been awake for ~ 24hrs... :scream: .

  3. I'm following your thread with great interest!

    Best of luck

  4. @AlaskaGal

Was gonna say the same thing, they even had a valet back there last year

  5. Good luck Chris...the WSOP is announcing a near record field for event 2 with only 250 seats for Day 1B left as of midnight. Interesting note from the WSOP about Andreas Krause in event 1. Facing a minimum raise in the BB from the button he exposed 1 card, A-d. The floor was called over and he was informed that if he called or reraised he would be assessed a 1 orbit penalty. This was at the bubble point in the tournament needing 1 player eliminated before all others reached the cash.

  6. Good luck at the events. It's amazing that it's that time of year already for another WSOP. Keep us posted on your progress!

  7. Good to hear the lines to register weren't long. I am going down to play in event 42 (or something like that) at the end of June. When we were there last year the line ups were insane. Hopefully they have things better organized this year.

  8. "Next it off to car rental. Got a good deal through Dollar thanks to some AVP tipsters. Line at Dollar took over an hour… UGHHHH Ended up with a nice Chrysler Sebring."

Just a tip for future, I signed up for Dollar's frequent renters club (or whatever it is called) which allows you to bypass the line and go straight to the shack in the garage ahead of everyone else. Saves a lot of time and it's free!

  9. No more posts from Rider03. I bet he figured out that internet connectivity, inside the hotel, costs $8714.29 per day.

  10. I was going to ask about that. I've always wanted to be able to post from Vegas but never figured out how (at least easily).

Did you bring a laptop? Do you have a smartphone/PDA which is easier to transport? Are you paying for wireless/wired access in your room?

Good luck. Let us know how it goes. Is event 2 today?

  11. Rider must have gotten back roomed..... :scream:

  12. Maybe we should have him paged at the Rio, "Rider03, Rider03, AVP update immediately, Rider03!"

  13. @24fanatics

Maybe he just got done watching 21 and forgot he was playing poker no :unamused: y black jack
