4/11 1 hr Harrah’s -$144. 11 hr IP -$495 Withdrew $500 from U.S. Bank ATM with my debit card at downtown Walgreen’s no fee.
4/12 Moved to IP 4 days $75. Great to play where you stay. 7hr IP -$370.
4/13 4 hr IP -$350 Staying where playing hasn’t improved my performance.
4/14 4hr IP +$128. 1 hr IP -$25. Easy to hop next door to O’Sheas for Burger King (large coffee $2.14) or Subway $5 foot-longs.
4/15 12 hr IP +200 Young pro (I’m 67) from North Carolina on my left said “I’ve sat next to you for two days and haven’t seen you get a hand.” He then quietly started critiquing my play and I realized I’d been playing too passively.
4/16 Last Day. Checked out, put bags in storage, playing NL by 8:30AM. Told chip-runner to bring me lucky chips. First hand AA with straddle on. Raised $20 and said “I think this is what you’re supposed to do with a straddle.” 5 of us see a KQJ flop. Ugh. Turn A. Not liking my hand. River J. Liking my boat and call an all-in. Up $220 after first hand. Third hand QQ wins small pot up $280. Card dead next 6 hours and/or pairs don’t hit set on flop. Fold, Fold, Fold. Stack down to $550. Very loud and emotional Jersey player has altercations with several dealers and chastises “poor play” by others while his buy-in grows to $800 and back down to $200. He moved seats multiple times and I used my earbud (unplugged) on his side to tone down his ranting. Last hand I played on the trip. Call raise with pockets 5’s. Jersey and I see flop. J, 5, x. Bingo. I’m thinking I still have a river bet when Jersey yells, “I know I’ve got you” jumps up and turns over AJ for a pair. I ask whose bet it is and dealer tells me I already checked (evidently I made a motion with my hand). Jersey goes into a rant about how I’m trying to cheat him. I tell the dealer I didn’t realize I checked but I’ll abide by his ruling and turn over my set, and start stacking chips. Now back at $660 (+$360). Jersey continues to rant so I cash out and catch a cab for the airport.

Poker loss $1,000
Room/Board $1,000 ($50/day)

  1. @Eldon Just a word of credit to you for that, what is known in Las Vegas as being a class act, Sir. Especially with the full fury of the Garden State braying in your ear. Would be a pleasure if by chance I happened to run into you on your return trip.

  2. Local Rock:
I'm booked at IP June 1 - 15. Look forward to meeting you. I usually wear a black "Google" cap.
