Spring Break Trip March 17-20
As a 22 year old college student, I dont know how many Spring Breaks I will be able to go to Vegas, so me and my girlfriends family headed down for a week. Sorry if this is too long for some.
Tuesday
Pulled in around 2:00 Vegas time on Tuesday and checked in at the casino. Went straight to the sportsbook and put a $110 bet on Davidson +3 which covered for me. After watching the game and supper, it was time for some poker. Walked over to Planet Hollywood and bought in for $100 in a 1/2 NL game. Had one memorable hand there. After an hour or two of playing, was breaking even at $100. A guy in late position, I'll call him headphones, since he was decked out in sunglasses and headphones, raises up to $15. In the SB, I look down at AJ of clubs. I call and the flop comes 7c,4c,2h. Headphones stares down my chip stack, raises about 3/4 of my chips. I decide to push all in. He calls and flips pocket Js. A club comes on the turn and I double up. End up about $200 on the day.
Wednesday
Bet $50 on a 3 game parlay(Magic, Blazers, Miami Hurricane) They all cover to win me $300! Head over to Bally's for their 11:00 AM tourney $65 buy in. It was an okay room. Every couple of hands off the start I was getting A Q or A K only to raise and have the opposite face cards come out. Continuation bets were getting called and eventually my chips dwindled. After that I went card dead and made it to the first break. I dont think the players here were necessarily good, I just couldnt seem to hit anything off the flop. Finally I catch AA. I push all in and get called by K8 suited. Flop comes XX8, turn comes 8, and the rivers no help. I'm out after about 1:30 of playing. I run over to the Flamingo and buy in $100. Not 5 minutes after sitting down, I catch AJ suited and double up again thanks to the flush. Cash out about $150 up.
Thursday
My hot betting continues. I take down a 3 game parlay to win another 300. After watching the games, I play 2 or 3 hours at the Flamingo with no memorable hands and break even. I stay sober that night so I can play in Planet Hollywoods 2AM tourney, but its too busy to have the tourney, so I just buy in to a 1/2NL table for $100. When I sat down, I could tell there was a couple drunk, ignorant, middle aged men at my table. One raised every other hand but kept getting lucky and was making money. I was card dead for probably the first 30 minutes and saw maybe 3 flops the first 30-45 mintutes. Finally, I get dealt AA. Instead of raising, I see the drunkie has late position, so I just cold call for $2. Like clock work, he raises it up to $20 and gets an immediate call from the guy sitting next to him. I push all in for $100. Drunkie shows K4 offsuit and folds. The guy to his left calls and flips over KK. I luck out and my Aces hold up. I play for another hour with no major memorable hands I can remember and cash out. There was also a major conflict at this table which involved this drunkie and his friends, which I talked about in more detail in the Planet Hollywood discussion forum.
Friday
Go straight to the sportsbook at 7AM still up from Thursday night. Place my bets and head to bed until 10. Watch the games and again get hot on my basketball bets. I usually dont play slots, but I was waiting on my girlfriend to get ready before we went and ate lunch. I sat down at the triple play video poker machine and put in $20 while I waited. I was down to $3.75, and it cost $1.75 max bet. I was deal A2AAA, four aces with a kicker, which was worth 4000 quarters for every hand. I won $3000!! I played about 3 hours in the afternoon, losing 1 or 2 hundred but I could care less after that jackpot. I decide to enter O'Sheas 3AM tournament, so I stay partially sober. About the 5th hand, I'm big blind. Guy to my immediate left raises about 1/4th his stack. I look down at AA. I immediately push all in and get called by his 88. The flop and turn looks wonderful, and then the river comes. Wouldn't ya know it, a damn 8 comes out. I try not to look too pissed off and get out of there and cool my jets. Since I'm partially sober, I decide to head back over to the Flamingo even though I'm tired and see if I can find some drunk fish. Luckily I get sat at a table full of them and make about $300 in 30 minutes and hightail out of there. The ol hit and run.
All in all, it was a great trip that netted me around $4500, but next time I want to make sure to play at Caesar's Palace and MGM. I ended up 14/17 betting on sports for the weekend, and made quite a bit on the poker tables, so I'm ready to go back already. I think I might have become addicted. Somewhere, Harrah's is laughing an evil laugh.

good trip. Do you know why you won that hand on the 1st day? According to Rackwell-a AVP'er. You had AJ of crubs with a flush draw. Crub flush draws always get there.
Nice trip report, however, on behalf of drunk, ignorant, middle aged men everywhere, I want to point out that we're not all obnoxiously bad poker players.
@mikek14
Shouldn't that be crub frush draw?
Nice jackpot! Look forward to reading about the problems caused by the old drunk guy
@rriddler
Haha, my apologies. I wasn't meaning to stereotype, just being very descriptive haha! I could talk about all the drunk, stumbling people my age (Myself included) but my report would be too long! I just had to get the point across because the one that kept raising could barely keep his eyes open when he wasnt in a hand.
@rriddler That's right; some of us simply suck in a courteous civilized manner.
