Trip started on Saturday May 9th. I stayed the first night at the Excalibur Hotel. Had the upgrade to the Widescreen room. Turned out the room was nice and was better than the room that I stayed at the rest of the trip at the Luxor.
I got off the plane and was at the hotel by 9am played at ExCali 12pm Tourney. The new electronic table was easy to learn but slowed things down. I found myself winning at the first of the tourney but became so bored that I didnt finish in the money. Finally got checked into my room and got lunch with my friends. I went in the evening to play at the MGM Saturday night and found sucess. I played the 1-2 tables and bought in for $200 and left with $500.
Sunday morning I got up early to go to the Bellagio for the 9am satelite $100. Got there early and the tourney doesnt start until they get 10 people. I play 1-2 and buy in for the full $300 they let you. I play pretty well at first and pull down the first few pots and get up to $400 when I get the nut flush flop and get taken down by the old guy who rivers the full house. Down $300. I play in the Tourney and make it to 4 and go out. I play Sunday night at the MGM and win around $150.
Monday I decide to play at the Mandlay Bay poker room on a break from playing Black Jack and Craps and ran into a table that was on tilt. A guy is way up mabye $1200 on a $1-2 table. I buy in for $200 and quickly find that this is really a $10-$20 table. The guy with all of the chips is raising every pot. He puts many people on tilt and he is getting luck enough when he needs to to take down the field including me. I play at night at the MGM and win $200.
Tuesday was probably my best night at MGM and I take down another $300. The competion at MGM is not that great. There are good players that play there but there are also alot of fish. There is a dealer name Devione, I think, he is the only black guy dealer there. This guy is awesome. He deals about twice as fast as any other in the room. He cracks jokes and is super funny.
Here are my thoughts, drink service here is pretty good. Average wait was about 10 minutes, maybe less. Very fun room, most people here are coming to have fun and they want to give away their money, what could be better than that? There is a bar that is close to this room and you can here it crank up a bit some times but it never got were you could not hear or became a problem. I played from around 10 or 11pm till 3-5 am when sharks started to out weigh the fishes. The only thing you have to watch out for is the partners. Several times I played on tables were 2 guys or a girl and guy were playing together. Lucky for me I could knock one out and isolate the other for the rest of the night. Just something to think about. I will make another post once I get over the jet lag. Hope this helps those about to go.

  1. Nice TR.

I don't play the MGM very often, but I know the dealer you are talking about - is his name spelt Devon?? He is one funny guy, and really stands out from the other dealers there.

Final thought - I sometimes have played on the same table as a buddy, and there's certainly no soft-play or collusion between us. There's nothing we like better than taking the other's money and reminding them of it daily for the next few months.

  2. Yeah i think that most low limit fish would really have no idea how to properly collude in a game to even make it profitable. Most people playing with friends just want to play with at least one person to keep them company for some of the long hours spent at the table.

  3. Thanks for the report. My wife and I are staying and playing at the MGM in July. All reviews of that room are consistently good. Glad to hear you made a profit at MGM. :sunglasses:

  4. Bellagio has a $100 satellite?

  5. I have to add that I have always been treating with respect at the MGM, regardless of whether I was playing $3-6 limit or $2-5NL. I like the vibe there a lot. And, unlike many other people, the loud music eminating from the bar doesn't bother me.
