Vegas Trip - 4th of July
So here we go... drove up from Tucson on Friday morning and stayed at the Venetian with wife.
Side note: Tried the $20 trick at the hotel and it works… put $20 in between your Drivers Lic. and credit card, ask for comp upgrades on the room.
Lady was about to say “no, and it will cost you to upgrad.......". Wait for it…. she sees the $20 and picks up the phone. (normal check-in is at 3pm) She tells us that your room is ready now(10am), its bigger, it’s got a great view, its on a very high floor. Bonus!!!
Then started the day off with a quick run over to CP for lunch at Mesa Grill good food, wife had the burger and it was great. Finished up lunch and had enough time to make it over to PH to play in the 2pm $80 tournament. Played about 6 levels and got knocked at about 57 out of 100. No cards, no hands, and no luck.
Side note: lots of locals playing this one and dont forgot the Players Card for an extra $500 in chips.
Went back to the Venetian for a nap and had dinner at 6pm at the Grand Lux Cafe, not bad at all... lots of food and good prices.
After dinner went over to Venetian poker room for the 8pm tournament $200 buy in and somewhat of a deep stack (started with 5K in chips).
Again... no luck and no cards... out at level 4.
Went to bed.
I think its time to move on to cash games.
Cash games: Lessons to be learned… quit while ahead and don’t play in the morning hours.
Saturday morning session buy in for $220...
1/2 blinds max buy in $300:
within 45mins. I get some great cards, I have a clear mind and I’m up with $280 in chips and 2 $100 bills behind my chip stack. By the way with cash behind your chip stack works as an advantage... just FYI. The players look at your chips and then see the $100's and start thinking twice about going all in.
oh yeah... Quit While Ahead, no of course not… play another 2-3hrs… and donk off $200 (to drunks and crazy players that have been there since 9pm the night before) to leave table with only +$60 still a win. Oh well.
Saturday night session buy in for $300...
1/2 blinds max buy in $300:
within the first hour, down to my last $80, start playing TAG game and get back up to $220.
Last couple of hands before going to bed.
here it comes...
Had pocket 6’s, called the $2 blind, with 6 callers...(7 players).
Flop comes 2,4,6… I raise to $30, 5 fold with 1 caller…
Turn is a 4, which gives me my boat – fireworks go off in my head.
I check and the other guy goes “ALL IN” with his last $97 bucks…. I call, of course.
River card is a 10 (nothing)
He flips over 46 and says “I got the boat baby 4’s over 6’s”… and I said “OH… so do I 6’s over 4’s” He gets up and leaves and with that hand I was up to $370. +$70 still a win. Left a couple of hands later at around 2:30am.
Side note: every table in the Venetian poker room was full, it was packed with fish, donks and locals.
Misc: MGM "KA" show is just "OK" I had Comp tickets and for free its worth it.
Dinnet at Pinot Brasserie was great, go there.
Going back Labor Day weekend.

@XDamage
Glad to see I'm not the only one with that problem. Every session I tell myself that, and I never listen.
I really enjoyed Ka, but according to most of what I read, lots of people agree with you — that it's only OK.
Dude, I was probably sitting right beside you during that TV table with Scotty Nguyen. I watched that table for about 45 mintues right after the dinner break myself....went to the seafood buffet shortly thereafter and thank God it was comped. I almost passed out when the lady said $77 for two!
