Weekend in downtown Vegas
Friday:
We landed in Vegas at 10:05; Since we did not check any bags, my wife and I zipped through the airport and quickly grabbed a taxi. I asked the cab driver not to take the tunnel and he went off on me saying that we had to take the tunnel to downtown-I know I got taken. The trip to the Vegas club cost us about 35-the return trip (not through the tunnel) 27.50. Oh well. We got to the airport, quickly checked in and hit the tables. The plan was to play table games on Friday and poker on Friday. My wife and I dropped about $550 that night. Around four AM she called it quits. I walked her to the room and came back down to hit the tables some more. Drank way to much and went to bed around 7:30 AM.
Saturday:
Got up around 10:30-still drunk, showered and hit the buffet at the Fremont. My wife wanted to go to the outlets. So, we took the 108. That was fun. After the shopping, we got on the 108 again, of course we got on the southbound again, and we had the pleasure of running the whole route. Saw some crazy sh**! But hey, for a buck 25 what do you expect. hee hee. Went to Main Street Station, had the buffet and played craps again, tried the California as well. Went to the room for a rest and then hit the poker room at Binions.
Poker:
Wife and I signed up for 1-2 no limit. We got two seats real quick on different tables. It was my first time at a brick and mortar so I was a bit nervous. I bought in for the min (100). Roughly at the table there was: One guy, huge stack at least 8 stacks of reds and about 3 bills. One guy with about 3 stacks, one with 2 everyone else was moderate. After a few hands, the guy next to me left, and his stack was replaced with about 3 stacks and two or three bills. In all there were 9 players. I really enjoyed the table. Everyone was playing pretty tight. Most hands did not go the distant, because people folded a lot. Most bets were between 10 and 25 dollars. One hand: I have Qd 9d. One player raises pre-flop to 15. I decide to call. Flop comes up nothing, nothing, 9. So I have top pair. Guy raises to 20, I call hoping to hit two pairs or a set. Turn-nothing. Another raise, and I disgustedly fold. Wanted to call, but got punked out. After that I loosened up and played better. By better, I mean muck, muck, and more muck. I tried to play premium hands only. One hand of note: As 10s I'm BB. I make it 12 to go. Big stack (BS) re-raises to 30. Since it is only 18 more to go, I call. Flop: nothing, nothing, nothing. I check, BS goes all in. ALL IN? Are you kidding me. I folded; BS shows KK and tells me, "hey, I didn't want to slow roll you." Yeah, right, you didn't want me to catch an Ace. I tell him, "well, I appreciate that." It was still fun. After about an hour and a half, my wife looks at me and does the "lets go" move with her head. I grumpily agree, played one last hand. J-10. Hit two pairs on the flop-raised and everyone folded to me. I left with 95, not bad-only five bucks down. Great service-Sam Adams-loved it.
Turns out my wife trippled up and got nervous. Had QQ in one hand and someone went all in against her-she called and hit a set on the flop. Know it was a hit and run-but hey it was our first time. I loved playing at Binion's-I also loved the sunken poker area. We should have played more poker and less craps, but we had a great weekend. We can't wait to go back.

Nice report. We don't get to read too many Downtown Vegas reports. Glad you got to check out the new Binions room. It is arguably the nicest room downtown.
Thanks for posting!
It seems that the Downtown places really don't get as much love as they should get. Yes, it is a little dirty, smoke infested, and filled with locals. Despite these drawbacks there really is a historical vibe that emanates from Fremont Street and the surrounding properties. This coming from a 23 year old and not an "old-timer" should mean something.
Good T.R. For table games downtown the four queens is a good option.
story of my life...not enough poker and to much craps.
