Weekend of Full poker Thursday to Sunday
I flew into Las Vegas Thursday Afternoon and checked into MGM with little trouble. My goals were to play a few new rooms and and hit the 3 rooms that I had played the previous 2 trips. MGM, Venetian, and Excalibur.
I got into a 1/2 game pretty easily at MGM grand. I took my 200 up to 450 with a few small pots, but mainly after catching a flush on the river to beat another ladies flopped 2 pair. Played about 4 hours total and lost my gains when karma caught back up to me from my earlier suckout. MGM -30
Went to the excalibur to play some check blackjack and check out the poker room. Noticed new electroic table deal. Not sure what to think about this so just played blackjack. (just now reading many posts about Excal's Tech machines, now makes more sense about the room).
Friday went to South Point with a local buddy and played some 1/2NL. What a waste of a trip. Grumpy room with no action. They could hardly keep 2 games going on a friday night. Did win 100.
Back to the strip and more MGM grand. No big hands. Lost a little. Decided to go back to Excal and try the electron games and just get hammered. At first I didn't like the machines but after getting use to them. I must say they worked well and I would definately play them again.
Actually might go strickly emachine. I got many more hands the action was what I liked and the cards just kept coming. I could check player stats and didn't have to deal with annoying dealers talk about fantacy poker room trips or how they collect poker chips are complain about not getting tipped enough. The 3 rake and the huge saving on dealer tips was enough to make my session very profitable. 5 hours +700. Will definately be back.

The best screen name you could come up with is Poker Tek 7? Long time lurker?
@TK_Poker7
Wow didn't take long for the bullet points from the Poker Tek Handbook to make it to the trip reports.
Also a dig on the SP room, nice attack the dealers and Perry in one post!!!
Even if you did like the tables were the cracks about, annoying dealer talk, fantacy poker room trips (whatever they are), poker chip collectors, and tip bitching, really needed.
The lower rake and no tips are valid points, but in my poker experience I haven never seen any of those traits exhibited by a dealer.
I have played on the tables, I don't like them, but this is not my thread...sorry for the hijacking, but it sounds like someone had a huge glass of Poker Tek Kool-aid
@TK_Poker7
I have played on these tables in Michigan several times and I have never seen such a feature. Please explain how I can access it.
Mark
The only stats you can check are your own, not other players'. Basically you can see stats on how many flops you've seen, showdowns won/seen, hands dealt, amount wagered. No stats on your opponents
Is every employee of Poker Tek going to post on this site now?
How about just posting what you feel the positve aspects of the electronic tables are without either making stuff up or degrading dealers. Tipping a dealer is not an issue for me, seeing more hands an hour is not an issue for me. I have a day job and play poker for fun. Give me a reason to play an electronic table. After reading these posts I feel less inclined to even give them a shot.
@TK_Poker7
First time poster loves e-tables and hates Perry's room that is some coincidence! Sure it doesn't have anything to do with Perry not liking the e-tables.

Mark if you are an employee of Poker Tek you can check other players stats.
That makes sense; I know I couldn't do it when I played them. Maybe one of the new posters can hook me up with a code.
Mark
so the PT guys always seem to post these big wins when playing on the tables, hmmm....
What I find funny about this obvious spammy pokertek shill report is that he goes out of his way to critisize South Point, where the Graveyard Shift Manager (Perry) is a vocal hater of pokertek, much like myself.
I played Excal last night for the last time. As far as I'm concerned, Excal no longer offers poker.
Business has slowed down there already, and the machines are flawed (in more ways then I thought). The eRoom at Excal will be a failure, and those machines will go b ack where they came from.
Thanks for posting the shill report. Gave me a good laugh.
I see great minds think alike
Mark
@LasVegasMichael Hmmm, yeah that kind of thing isn't likely to help his cause. If I may offer a suggestion, leave it up instead of sending it to thread Hell. It serves kind of a purpose. Not much chance someone here will mistake it for something it's not. Do you do IP address tracking? Just sayin'.
I love it, well planned, reesearched and delivered.
They must be desperate
@TK_Poker7
I alerted Perry to this, and he will comment later, as he is out now.
South Point had FIVE NL games on friday night. The previous friday was a similar number. Lying on a poker forum about Vegas cardroom numbers? Like we wouldn't be able to figure out the truth?
I play the Point all the time, and knew something was awry with your accursation of two tables on a friday night. Your report is as laughable as it is pathetic.
Don't worry, Local Rock, this thread will certainly stay open. This makes pokertek look more pathetic then I even thought imaginable.
Mind you, if real live players/AVP Members legitimately like the machines (and there are a few out there) then more power to them, and I welcome them to post and discuss. However, these obvious shills that just reiterate the brochure are laughable, and do nothing but make pokertek look pathetic and desperate.
I wrestled with whether to reply to this report. Here's what I have come up with.
AVP is an open forum for the exchanging of views both popular and unpopular. My position has been very clear on pokertek. I have been allowed to voice my concerns regarding its effect on poker players. And the ramifications of this technology on the jobs of poker room employees. I truly appreciate the ability to be heard.
Along those lines, if I choose to be an outspoken opinionated figure I have to expect some critisizm, both fair and unfair. For whatever reason TK_Poker7 did not enjoy his time at my room. If this is true, and it is something I did, I would be happy to set aside some time to either talk to him or meet with him to discuss the situation.
I feel the main function of my job is to run the shift in a way that facilitates people enjoying themselves. Thus inticing them to return. Under the title and all the duties I perform, customer service is at the heart of my profession. As it is for all casino employees.
I accept that not everyone will like me personally. (Those of you that have met me can confirm that.) But it is my solemn pledge to do whatever is in my power to make your time at my casino a pleasurable one.
With that said, I will not comment any more on this particular trip report .
Good Luck,
Perry
No response from TK_Poker....posts a report, but never checks for any feedback???
@SouthPointPerry
My guess is there are two reasons for his dissatisfaction:
1. There are no PokerTek tables at SouthPoint. Obviously these tables are rigged in his favor and he is unable to win any other way.
2. Your smelly face was there.
There. All it takes is a little logic. Problem solved.
@SouthPointPerry
The PokerTek dealer would never come on and give a heartfelt response like this.

Unreal. Plants to build up positive image about computer generated poker. What's next, online poker?

that's what I was thinking
I only have four words. Everyone Boycott the room.
See how many years it takes them to break even on buying those evil machines with no one playing.
Frankly, I don't see why everyone is so harsh on the PT tables. I understand that EXCAL did away with 30 employees, but the economy is shit and people are getting laid off everywhere. I'm not saying it was a good business move, that is yet to be seen, but many dealers i know personally are getting laid off, including TI.
I checked out the machines myself for the first time a few days ago. I only railed, watched 2 hands. First 6-7 limpers, all fold on flop. Second EP raised to 4 and 6 other players called. Flop Qs-9d-3c checked around to LP whe bets out $50 folds around to another guy who calls all in for 45. LP shows 88, all-in guy shows AKo. So play is pretty atrocious. The thing for a lot of you who don't play online is that .50/1nl online is MUCH tougher than the PTEK .50/1 . In fact i can honestly say that .5/1 online is about equivalent to 5/10 nl live. You get no tourists online. So to sum up
PROS- can afford lower limits
- still see tells
- ability to angleshoot (lol this may be a con, just dont let them)
- slightly faster than dealt games
CONS- no one talks (personally sometimes i just feel like putting my ipod on and grinding for a while, but usually better if atleast 3-4 other players at the table are having fun and not trying to be a 1/2 nl pro like some guys at the venetian.
-no higher limit games
Just when did dealers become sacrosanct? There are some lousy dealers just like lousy doctors. Why not complain about them??
@anubis
Are you insane? Are you saying people don't complain about dealers? nobody holds dealers sacrosanct.
I'm not insane just a little fey. I agree with you. Someone on this blog was annoyed at someone's criticism of dealers. That was what I was alluding to. Besides I've had 2 or 3 good dealers in 4 million hours of poker.
Ok so I am at dinner last night with friends and one of the friends boyfriend is telling about his experience at the excal with the new tables. His words were pretty much what i would expect from what i would think is your a typical person who's going to play at the excal, and the kind of person excal is going for with this change (relativly new player, not from vegas, plays at a home game or a small limit game in his home town)
His words were this
Pros
No Tipping the dealer
More hands then a live room
Cons
was more into his cards and the screen then the players around him (ie not really looking for tells)
VERY Impersonal room and the players seemed much more reserved then the last time he played in vegas
His words "it just doesnt seem as fun as playing without a computer screen"
Seems like to me exactly what everyone has been saying.
