Any good advice for a newbie playing in a tournament

  1. Sand bagging is practically the same thing as slow playing; in your case, you will be playing from a cautious perspective, yet enough aggression to be respected. You are not an underdog but if others care to treat you that way, then the Gain is yours. Some players play their pot Size and that's okay because sooner or later you get a hand that Needs to be slow played to the point of ending up with a Sizeable Pot that got that big with the strategy you began with and then the tables are turned and others turn on themselves and you hang back (since you aren't their target) and get to the money; and get as much as you can. If you lose, "I'm a newbie!" will be good enough and prepare for the next one. Enjoy!

  2. @Smoothsilver iv found that its easier breaking up tournaments by levels my example lvl 1 sit back watch feel see whos the good players whos doing what after 30 minutes you go lvl 2 which is mixing it up all pocket pairs and and suited connector sees a flop usually. Don't be afraid to limp in lvl2.
Lvl 3 I call sudden death your about a hrs to 30 minutes away from break or bubble if you run good and exploit players are desperate only using top 4 pocket pairs folding ATs and everything else only play top top of your range here. Lvl 4 in the money play tight open ranges I like to find good spots in the under the gun position to open with. Lvl 5 final table be careful anything can happen 1 hand is all it takes to move you to victory or defeat you just have to grab momentum. Have fun use flash cards study before for a couple days then play some 20$ tournaments or cheaper ones.

  3. yeah, quit now.

  4. @AceThreehley haha

  5. Most importantly, remember your position play, don't get involved in a lot of UTG, hijack or lojack hands unless you're hold dynamite cards. You don't need to see every flop, use these free folds to study the other players, their betting habits/limits, note these, you can use this information when you're in a hand.

  6. Fold. A lot. Thats good advice.
