LOVE THIS SITE!!!!!
I love this site and have been using it religiously for the last two years. And this new version is the nuts especially on mobile which is when I almost always use it. I am not one to write reviews or post discussion topics but I like to read them. This is my first post but I couldn't help myself after seeing other people complain about this site without giving compliments to it. I am guessing that anyone complaining about this site is over 60 years old and doesn't use the internet on their phone and still uses America Online for email. This site is very helpful and easy to use to find information for poker anywhere. And I trust the information on it more than the casinos websites where I play in Florida.
Actually, a lot of the complaints are coming from people who used the sister site -- All Vegas Poker or AVP. There are a few features on that (seeing who posted last in a thread, being able to see only the posts that are new since your last login, or seeing only the posts that you haven't read), that are really nice and make navigation easier on a computer or mobile. I e-mailed support to see about those and they are looking into them. So, hopefully this site will be even better going forward. I also hope that the sense of community that was on the old site carries over here, because that was one of the best parts of AVP.

I understand. That is precisely why I posted this, because I read that other post and felt like this site deserved some love. I think people just don't like change and are usually resistant to liking something new or different. I cannot comment on the Vegas community because I was not a part of it, but I can only comment on this site being good. One would think that a good site would help for a good community but I am certainly not an expert in this.
I think one of the other big complaints (which is mentioned in the other thread) is that some members of the other site have had trouble logging in to Poker Atlas. Since there had been changes to that site, which some users didn't love, I think those login problems were a final straw for some members of that community. I'm hoping that I'm wrong, but that's my sense.

The content on this site may be great, but the navigation aspects Dap alluded to are so horrible that I'm unlikely to see it. I think dividing the AVP forums from the Table Talk topics is unnecessary and diverts traffic from each other. I much prefer the AVP forum software, and hope they will migrate all the discussion topics to it.
@Dap Poker
I agree with Dap Poker. Another think that I miss is a more detailed room rating (e.g. quality of competition, quality of the room, competency of the dealers/floor, comp policy, etc.).
@Gamin I live in Ireland,and visit Vegas two or three times a year. As a keen recreational player,I play tournaments with entry fees ranging from $75 to $340,and cash tables at $1/2 or $2/5. Is there any better feeling,than arriving in Vegas after an eleven hour flight,checking in,showering and changing,heading to your favourite poker room (Mine is the Mirage or Aria),asking for a seat,collecting 100BBs from the cage,and smiling because the dealer remembers your name? You look around at the mix of new and familiar faces,hear the click of the chips,smell the unique heady atmosphere,and realise that you are in poker heaven. A home from home. Where you can indulge yourself to your heart's content,and maybe even show a modest profit,before returning in a couple of weeks to the real world. . . . . . .PS.. . . .Don't be afraid to fold that AK. There will be better spots.
"This site is very helpful and easy to use to find information for poker anywhere. And I trust the information on it more than the casinos websites where I play in Florida."
That doesn't make this site seem any better than AVP which in my opinion was easier to use. I used that site because it was very helpful and very easy to use. It had accurate information. And I was even able to log in without having any issues.
It's not about being old and not liking change. It's about not liking change if it's bad change. Change is not always a good thing. If AVP sucked then I would have been in favor of change. But it was actually a very good site.
yeah basically the problem is not that this site sucks, its just that another (larger)online community was merged into this site. Now that old community has basically died out and the few that are left have resentment towards the poker atlas bc it directly led to the death of the AVP.
I was really hoping the sense of community would carry over to this site, but unfortunately its not looking too good at this point :(
A little bit of love for this site- I have always used AVP (as a lurker). Found it too much hassle to get too involved tho. Now the site has changed I'm quite happy to get more involved (using my phone-much easier now). I may even go to the extreme of writing a trip report! Lol.
@viking Im just using my iphone with a 3G connection in the uk but tbh I've found it pretty fast. Could it be your area or even the device your using? It may help to download the app and leave the full version of the site for your pc. Just a thought.
@MoneyShot86 I just noticed Viking's post,and was able to open the site,and read his contribution within seconds on my old fashioned BlackBerry. I'm in Ireland,and don't believe signal inhibits access to this site at all
I just signed up for an account to vent a bit. I loved AVP and the app. I live in vegas and it was very useful, now that it's poker atlas it takes me longer to find what I'm looking for. Maybe I need to just practice using a website lol. I have to weed through all sorts of obstacles when before it was only a few clicks. I used the old poker atlas site when I was on the road for business and wanted to play poker. I've tried the site on my laptop, my phone, and the app. The app seems to be the easiest way to get the information I want quickly. It does not have all the popups and ads I really don't care about. Not liking the changes. Does the OP work for the site or something or am I missing that the users of this site are just that dedicated?
@IcIT What specific information are you looking for? Once you set your location to LV, it's virtually the same amount of clicking, but with more information on each page. The only real exception is our new poker room pages which have different tabs for tournaments, cash games, and reviews. Also, now that you are signed in, you should never receive that popup again (as long as you stay signed in).
