Questions about Poker Rooms in Vegas
Hi,
I will be visiting vegas(strip) soon and I have some questions.
1. All they are 24/7?
2. Which casinos only take rake? I noticed some casinos(in canada) will take $X per hour/half hour to play at the table. I rather not play at these kind of rooms
All 24/7 except for a few. Treasure Island opens around 11:00 am.
All casinos take rake, just depends how. All 1/2 1/3 2/5 are a rake per pot. Most 5/10 plus are timed rake per 1/2.
Agree with Kansaisupra. As a $1/$2 player, never paid for time in Vegas (and I have been going to Vegas 3-4 times per year for over ten years).
To add about the rooms being 24/7, all the big and middle sized rooms are open 24/7. While Luxor is also open 24/7, a smaller room like this is more likely to have its final game bust at some point overnight and the room will effectively close. This will happen more often mid-week, non-WSOP times, etc. Great thing about the Strip is you can usually be in another room with a short 5-10 minute walk.
There are only 5 rooms which only take rake from each pot for the lower limit games. They are aria, bellagio, caesars, venetian and wynn. All otner rooms on the strip take an additional "PROMOTIONAL" drop of $1 or $2 to fund lottery type activites. Your best value is to play at the above listed five properties. They are also the nicest rooms and have the best game selection.
