The single table satellites pay in lammers and cash (the majority portion of the payout being lammers). The lammers can be used to buy in to any event. They can also be sold for face value to other players (not officially but it's done regularly).
The lammers expire at the end of the series so be sure to use them or sell them.
I played a $175 STS where we all also did a $25 last longer. I got heads up with a slight chip edge so the other guy took the $1500 in lammers and gave me the $300 cash left over after tip (we tipped $70 which might be a bit high) along with $650 cash out of his pocket. I got $950 cash and he got $1500 in lammers for $650. He wasn't worried about selling them and i think he plays a lot of those,
The tourney chips (lammers) are very easy to sell. Traditionally it was easiest to sell them at the tournament registration line where people had cash in hand ready to buy into an tournament. However I'm not sure if the same rules still apply, so I recommend making sure you sell them within the rules of selling them at Rio.

So no REAL CASH SnG then?
No - the winner of mine got $1500 in lammers and $120 cash but if wouldn't let that keep you from playing.
