Mandalay Bay and The Mirage

My buddy and I played 1-2 at Mandalay Bay and 3-6 at Mirage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We had no problems getting a seat in either room within 10 minutes on any of our visits. Drink service at Mandalay Bay started slow but picked up after we started tipping a bit more. Mirage cocktail service was pretty good as it has always been since I have been going there. The dealers at both rooms were pretty good and seemed for the most part to be in generally good moods. Mandalay Bay had a few grumpy dealers, but nothing really out of line from what I have seen in Vegas. One guy was pretty rude, but I didn't have any run-ins with him. He was a huge dick to new players which might have led to them leaving earlier than normal. The "room" at Mandalay Bay is pretty much an afterthought, but they seem to do a pretty good job of taking care of the players. They bring your chips to the table and cash you out pretty quickly and are happy to explain the promotions. One of our group wanted a table change so he could play with us and there were no problems getting him one. The competition at Mandalay Bay was really mixed. If you play solid you will be fine, but it was a real mixed bag as far as skill levels go. Mandalay Bay is right next to the sports book so it makes sports wagering easy, but it is a little distracting during big games (like the Final Four). Not really much to report from the Mirage that hasn't been covered quite a bit in other reports. It is a good poker room and while it isn't anything special they seem to try pretty hard. Neither room seemed very interested in getting any other games started other than Hold-em, but that is to be expected. We were trying to hit up a few more rooms, but got distracted by One OAK, Spearmint Rhino, Wet Republic and Moorea. If you need reviews on those, please let me know.

  1. How was Spearmint Rhino? Lived here 20 years, but I've never been there. Whenever I'm entering I-15 on Spring Mountain Rd., after playing poker on the weekend, it always seems packed (50 taxis waiting in line).
