poker @ Bally's, Aria

This was some what a long trip for me. Wife wanted to go to Yosemite and I agreed to with the condition that we will stop at Vegas, LOL. The trip to Yosemite was great, saw a bear, a coyote, a deer but the drive from Vegas to Yosemite but not fun. Back to Vegas. Stayed at Paris hotel from 5/25 - 5/28. Three nights comp and paid one night.

Here's the breakdown:
5/25 - Played the 11 am tourney at Bally's with buy in at $100.00. They have a special prize guarantee of $2500 with $1100 for first place. Had less than 2 full tables. Got busted out after half an hour. Played the 4 pm tourney with $65.00 buy in, also didn't make the money. Was disappointed at myself for not making any money. Decided to take a break so we went to Bellagio for the buffet. Got back to play at Bally's for some 1-2 NLHE. At end of the night made about $80.

5/26 - Did a Grand Canyon west rim tour. Got couple Groupons for Comedy on deck tour. Did the Skywalk with the wife eventhough height was always a challenge for me. Wasn't as bad as I thought. Didn't pee in my pant. Walk through the whole thing and I was fine. Not worth paying $30 for a picture.
After dinner at Chinatown plaza, we went back to Bally's and I played some 1-2 and made about $60 for the day.

5/27 - We have to leave the following day, Monday the 28th, so I knew if I want to play a bigger tournament today is the day. I decided to go to Aria for the 1:00 pm, $125.00 buy in tourney. Got there little after 1 pm and already had over 70 buy ins. I got in and sitted at a table with 7 other players. Not all tables are full. They spread out the players and then combine tables as the number of players dropped. They didn't put us in the regular poker room, instead they set up some tables by the Deuces (?). Poker room seems kind of pack. Maybe due to WSOP starting this weekend? I played at the Aria once before inside their poker room and it was very comortable. I liked it alot that's why I decided to go back. They serve Fiji bottle water. The other poker room that serves Fiji bottle water is at the Wynn. Thought that was kind of generous knowing Fiji bottle water costs about 4 -5 bucks. Back to the tournament. Starting chips was at a generous $10,000 with 30 minutes levels. Lasted a couple of hours. The hand that almost wipe me out was against this dude holding 5*2* and I had 9 J off suited. I was on the button and he raised twice the big blind, I called. Flop came 8*10d Q*, I got the nuts. I raised half the pot, he pushed all in, I called. Made his flush on the turn. He look surprised he won the hand. Need less to say I was steaming. Having 90% of my chips gone I didn't have much choice but to take some chances. Didn't work out for me at the end.
Another fruitless day, I thought. Decided to eat at the KOI restaurant at PH. Was good. Sashimi tasted fresh. The black cod/butterfish was delicious. And the green tea ice cream was one of the best I tasted.
It was almost 8 after dinner. I knew Bally's has a tournament at 8 pm. And that's where I went. Was $65.00 buy in. Surprisingly only had 8 people at the start but ended up with I think 12. Did well and came first for about $400.00. Felt really good now that I made back my tournament buy ins. One crazing thing that happened that night was someone hit the diamond royal flush at the 3-6 limit table. I think he got paid over $3000.00. Everyone else at the table also got paid. How sweet is that.

5/28 - Our flight was at 6 pm so I have sometimes to play a little more poker after lunch. Try and play the 3-6 limit. Was up and down most of the time. Nothing exciting until the lady sat next to my left scored a heart royal. She got paid I think was $2000.00 and everyone of us at the table got $100.00. That was sweet. She said her sister give her $100 to play and that she told the sister if she wins she will half with her. And that's what she wanted to do after hitting the royal flush. She went and cash out and look for the sister, I think. Another strange thing, this lady was at the table the night before where the guy hit the diamond royal and she got paid also. Luck??? If it wasn't for the extra $100, I would have been down $20.

All and all poker was good. Didn't make much and wish could have play more but with the wife I feel bad running away to play poker and leave her by herself.

And that's the whole story. Till next time, keep on playing.
