This is a continuation of my report. This is the august segment. I found the new tourney structure much improved from April. The first one had 58 players at 225 a person. Starts at noon. The very first hand I have KC-QC and this oriental suit and jewelry guy raises 600. The blinds start at 25-50. Flop comes 4C-10C-JD and he raises to 1000. I call. Next card is a 6S and he bets 2000. Last card is 7C and he checks. Well I dont want to bust out on the first hand so I call. He shows K-Q offsuit and thinks its a tie so does the dealer but I say flush. big first pot. I pick up a few other small pots and now Im the chip ;eader. Another hand, later on, has 4 checks so Im in position and call with KH -IOD. The flop comes 6D-IOC-KS. Then it goes fold , raise to 1000 and fold to me I call. Next card is AH and the texas raiser bets 2000. Now I say he probably just caught a straight but if I catch Ill bust him so I call. Next card is is the 10 and firecrackers are going off in my head and he goes all in. Well that hand puts me out there like 30,000 with the closest guy at my table at 8,000. So I startto play almost every hand with reraises and really chip bully the table. At one point I took five hands in a row with no cards . All of them were steaming.
Then I catch J-J and the flop comes 10-J-Q.So I bet 2000 and the southern slow-hand calls. Next card is another Q so I lead out with 3000 and he calls again. Well I think he must have something but what he, never raised. Last card is an A no possible flush. Im thinking this guy must have a straight so Im not betting he calls and saves me alOt of chips. He shows K-Q. Boy was I lucky I didn t get greedy the poker gods had set me up but I didn t bite. Still the chip leader and we are down to two tables. Im starting to be more careful now not pushing people around. So now I HAVE 8-8 one raise of 1000 and a reraise of 2000 [blinds are 500 1000] so I fold what a chicken . This is the hand that screws me up totally. Flop comes K- J 8 with a raise 2000 and a call. Guess what the next card is ? Right the 8 . I could hardly sit there. They both bet again and again on the river .I COULD HAVE TAKEN BOTH OF THEM OUT FOR 40000 more chips. Now I know I screwed up bad and it will not be long before the wrath of the poker gods will be upon me. About half an hour later I get K-K. Blinds are now 1000-2000 and 200 antes with eleven players. I bet strong 9000. The player to my left has come over the top fo me on the last three raises I have made forcig me out of all those hands. So I have been just waiting to trap him with a good hand. he goes all in for a 35000 raise. OK lerk I got you now and I quick call all my chips. He flips A-K dominated his ass. But remeber the poker gods theme. He rivers the A TO WIN AND THEN TRIES TO SHAKE MY HAND. I AM STEAMING. They only pay to ninth place so I collect zero . And I THINK IT IS ALL BECAUSE I DIDN' T PLAY THOSE EIGHTS UNTIL THIS DAY. I played the 300 tourney the next day came in 14th out of 57. These tournaments have big prizes and great structure I highly reccomend them over all the other casinos. You play at least four hours and they last 7-8 hours. They are the best Ive seen. good luck all

Apparently you're not aware that a full house, your hand, Jacks over Queens, beats a flush, straight, or a set of queens. :unamused:

  3. "Apparently you're not aware that a full house, your hand, Jacks over Queens, beats a flush, straight, or a set of queens."

    Thats what I was thinking...

  4. Yeh, that part of the story didn't make sense, nor did a "raise of 1000" with 500-1000 blinds later on.

I suspect the turn was actually a K and his opponent made queens full. That said, I'm not sure why he's worried about a straight.

  5. I did make a mistake the second Q on the flop was a K which gave my opponent a straight. The blinds must have been lower . after two months some details are not easily remembered. sorry !
