A rookie playing live poker with strangers, learned much on this trip. Busted my cherry at Bill's. Patient dealers, and for the most part friendly competition. Entered a $30 tourney, didn't embarrass myself. Started with a young dealer who seemed more nervous than I was. After a couple rounds “Old Bill” took over as dealer and intuition kicked in. I didn't do to shabby. The cards sucked, so I was able to bluff the pot a few times due to the fact that I looked weak/tight, with a few good position bets thrown in and reading the table I was able to stay in for a while. Didn't win any money, but a big confidence boost. I bopped around between Flamingo's and Mirage the next couple of days grinding cash games for a small profit and playing low cost tourney's. Won some money and lost some money but by the end of Wednesday I was a little ahead. Played against some crazy loose players, some predictable tight players, and some really, really sharp players. The best competition came at the Mirage, but that could have been due to the time of day (early in the day). Decided to spend my last few sessions at Bill's, had a blast; at one point was down to about 2.5 in BB/LB but came back to finish in the money. In the end was able to win a few hundred, found my wife and spent a good chunk of my winnings in Bill's steak house which is indeed a diamond in the rough!!! Cant wait for my next trip, already planning it. Might have to try Atlantic City, but I know nothing compares to Vegas.
