Coming from the United States, I wanted to experience playing poker internationally.
The game is 5/10 sols. (about $1.40/$2.80 US dollars). The minimum buy in is 500 sols with no max buy in. The room has three tables located upstairs by the bar. Mid-week, One table gets going about 7pm, and a second table may get going if there's interest. I was told that on the weekends, all three tables are going.
Some unique differences, was the rake. There's no rake if the pot is less that 60 sols. And the rake is capped at 75 sols. I wasn't quite sure on the math, but when the pot was 1000, the rake was 50 sols.
The tables are played 10-handed.
Overall, the casino is very nice. Security was good. It was clean and you got a free drink every 30 minutes of play if you wanted one.
It's also a great place to do a currency exchange. I bought my chips with US dollars, and there was no mark of on the exchange rate. Unfortunately, I could not buy back US dollars when I won, I can to go to an outside FX vendor for that.
The players were very polite, I think this was indicative of the Peruvian people. My Spanish is horrible, and there was always a player there to assist me when I needed clarification. Usually, when I player would throw out an oversized chip and state a number in Spanish.
Also, they allow straddles on the button for any amount.
The game played alot bigger that it was. And I enjoyed myself, and would return again if in Miraflores. Despite the high rake, and the 10-handed play, this was offset by how bad I thought the players were.
