I was in San Jose, Costa Rica, last December through March 1, 2025.. I spent numerous times at Kicker's poker room, part of the Grand Casino-Sheraton hotel. Although my poker experiences covers Atlantic City, Las Vegas, MD-DC area, and Florida, the Kicker's poker room was the best, and most enjoyable. It is a small poker room, but extremely well managed by the supervisors, and owner--Paul. Management and the dealers know your name after a few visits. The games are usually $1-2, but often plays like a $2-5 table--good action. The Costa Ricans, dealers, management, and players are friendly, and the tables are fun. The food is good, reasonably priced, and if you have played 50 hours, the month before---50% discount.
The poker room-casino and hotel are situated off a main road, separate from other businesses. You always feel completely safe there, and there is always a security guard out front. I highly recommend Kickers poker room.
