As stated numerous times before, this is a very modern and state of the art room. The tables are well spaced out, and everything is brand new. My biggest disappointment was the lack of limit games spread. I played at the MGM on Friday afternoon (6/17) and Saturday night (6/18), both of which should be fairly peak times. I was actually in the mood to play some mid-limit hold em, either 10/20 or 20/40, both of which they supposedly spread. However, on both visits the largest limit game was 4/8 (they didn't even have the 8/16 game going). So needless to say, I played 1/2 and 2/5 no-limit.
This place is marketed towards the younger "hip" poker players, and for the most part, that is who was playing in the no-limit games. A lot of twenty something players with the sunglasses and backwards baseball hats. Many of them play very aggressive, and over use a lot plays like the live straddle and checking in the dark. If you are patients and play solid poker, these games are very beatable. During my first session of 1/2 no-limit, I had 2 off the clock MGM dealers at my table, both of which were decent players.
Dealers were decent, no major problems from what I remember, but no great personalities eithers.
Drink servers came around frequently enough for me, even when the place was busy.
Management seemed on the ball. I never had to wait to get into a game (even though they didn't really have the games I wanted). They seated me promptly with no problems.
I signed up for the players card, which the dealers swipes when you sit at the table. I think you get about $1 per hour (but I could be wrong).
