I suggest going elsewhere. The room does not treat new players very nicely. I have been here a few times and this visit was the final straw. Included below is some detail about what happened with the rude floor staff. New players would be turned off immediately and poker needs a constant influx of new money!
I arrived one evening ~7 pm looking to play in the 2-5 PLO that was on Bravo, had 5 people waiting as I arrived. When I came in to the poker room, the game was breaking up, the names gone from the list. Whatever, things happen. I mentioned to the floor I was willing to play any game, on any table 2-5 or better and willing to help get a new game going. A new 2-5 NLHE began shortly.
One player from a 5-10 constantly complained about the low stakes and was just blasting every single hand. Cool! Action is great! However after about 10 minutes, one of the regulars stood up, didn't come back to their stack. After winning nearly every pot by sheer force, the 5-10 player stood up and wandered, purposefully not playing, eyeing the table. Frustrated, we stopped play and broke. I spoke with the floor about how this player essentially was responsible for breaking us very shortly into the game and again mentioned my flexibility to play anything besides the lowest stake. The floor then immediately PRIORITY seated this player above everyone else, including myself who was on the list ahead of mostly everyone by this point.
When I questioned the floor about this, glares and shrugs! The feeling I got was that this player is clearly more important than me. Again I mentioned how they essentially broke the game and that this player made for a very uncomfortable experience. The floor asked if I wanted to be put at the bottom of the 1/2 list, after I expressed my desire to play 2-5/5-10, mocking me?
I've been playing poker since 2001 and like many of us, have seen tons of things. I will never, NEVER play at Bally's Twin River again. The dealer was super cool and offered some suggestions, when to come for PLO, tips to get seated, etc. Despite losing a small bit, I tipped the dealer happily! Hey whatever, I will happily take my thousands of dollars elsewhere!
Not recommended.
