This place has all the potential to be amazing but it's not and it won't be around in several months. These issues will catch up to them eventually. I've played for a few months now, have talked to several others who agree about these issues...I'm done going. Found another room. Here's the problems:
**people running the game ARE ACTUALLY PLAYING IN THE GAME: this is the #1 issue. Everyone knows it. It'll be their downfall. (what an easy fix: if you're working, even if it's for one hour, you cannot play that day...period. How simple is that?)
**rules/policies constantly changing and dealers not on the same page: example- some dealers say when the button straddles for $10, the only player that can re-straddle is immediately to the left of the dealer. Others say anyone can re-straddle from any position. (what an easy fix; just make a ruling and ensure every dealer knows it)
**inconsistent enforcement of rules: some dealers will correct players for illegal moves/poor etiquette. Others won't say a word when major infractions take place. example- a player being all in on the flop, 2-3 other players still in the hand and the all in player discussing out loud what he has. (what an easy fix; make sure dealers are penalizing players for illegal moves/poor etiquette and have them sit out an orbit as the first punishment)
**strange inclusion of PLO- sometimes they randomly play a PLO hand in the middle of an orbit. Sometimes they'll play a round of each. This is all randomly determined; the players who are outspoken about NOT wanting to do this get verbally assaulted by the regulars that want to play PLO in the middle of a hold 'em game. Some players won't speak up about not wanting to play PLO and just go along. (what an easy fix; make sure 100% of the players agree to play PLO; or, run a great room and build attendance which will lead to a PLO game happening at another table).
**no rake but taking money out for food?: no explanation needed. This is NOT ok. Not every player eats the food they order. And this is supposed to be a non-rake game. What an easy fix.....
**shady high hand payouts: multiple people have said that the dealers and remaining players at the end of the night are "staging" a new high hand. Players who have the high hand at say 10pm and leave have ZERO way to confirm whether or not their high hand was beat at 4am when it's all the employees/friends of the club shutting it down. (what an easy fix: pay out two high hands, one at 12midnight and one at 6am; also, timestamp the high hand, post on the website/social media and be willing to show the video upon request of the winning high hand.
**No security: tensions have run high with threats of physical violence more than once. Random dudes have shown up before, played for a small amount and then left. Could've possibly been casing the place. (what an easy fix- have a security guard; give him $5 out of every pot that has $75 or more. Done.)
When this room eventually fails, they'll look back at these easy fixes and wish they had implemented them. These easy fixes would grow the room, keep the room safe and running at a high quality level.
