This room use to be so great to come to but for the past few years it has gone downhill. I have been playing here for the last 12+ years and have always enjoyed myself. Games have always been good. The staff has always been friendly and attentive and good at their jobs. And the promotions have always been great. However, it has all changed significantly and I'm not really sure where to start and or why that is the case.
Firstly, Saturdays have been ghost town, day and night. I will check the list during the day at like 1 PM and there doesn't seem to be a $1/$3 game. At night, you are lucky to get one. I mean this is the prime time, a weekend night and there is no $1/$3 game?! Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Same goes for a lot of the other nights. It seems like throughout the week, I've noticed on Tuesday and Thursday specifically, the game either isn't going or it's short or it breaks early. Day time, forget about as that also hardly goes. And Sundays there is just never a game in general.
Staff seem to be off a lot at times as well. I've never played in a room where it takes so long to fill a seat. For example, a seat opened up and there were 3 names on the list. They called the first player. He was at the UTH table and said he would play but never came. They didn't call him again but instead chose to just leave the seat empty for 10 minutes. The same thing happened with the next person they called. I mean cmon. Call their name again in a timely manner. If they don't want it, then move on to the next player. Don't just leave the seat unattended for 10 minutes.
Some of the dealers just don't know common sense when it comes to poker. They are so careless and willy nilly when it comes to enforcing the rules and running the game and doing their job. I was all in the other day for $600. It was a heads up pot and I was sitting in seat 8. My opponent was in seat 6 and the player between us, not in the hand, reaches in the muck to try and retrieve his cards, almost as if to say that he folded the winning hand. Even worse, he announced out loud what his hand was and everyone heard him. The dealer just sits there and watches it happen and does nothing about it. I won the hand because the other player folded but the dealer could have potentially cost me losing the pot just as much as the player. Like in what world is this ok?!
Not too long before that there was an all in and a call on the turn. There were 3 diamonds on board and seat 1 tabled a flush face up. The players agreed to run it twice. The first river didn’t change the board but the second river put a 4th diamond on the board. Seat 6 pushes his cards towards the middle face down as if to say he folds. The dealer literally pushes his cards back to him and tells him “Hey, check for a diamond.” Are you kidding me?! Again, same as me. It didn’t change the outcome of the hand because he didn’t have a diamond but there’s no way that just happened, both scenarios.
Between those two incidents and the fact that each dealer follows different protocol just goes to show the lack of training and accountability and knowledge of the game they have. Dealers counting bets when nobody asked. A dealer counted a players chips behind when one player asked the other how much he had behind. The player showed him his stack and said he can count it if he wants to know, then the dealer counts it down when they’re not even in the pot.
There’s been many incidents also where transfers who are highlighted orange on the list are skipped for the next player because the cashier is so careless. Arguments later ensue because the transferred players’ seat is taken by the next player on the list, all because the cashier isn’t paying attention and honestly doesn’t care.
It's pretty clear this starts up top with management. I don’t know how scheduling works but it doesn’t seem like enough dealers are on duty because sometimes it takes so long for a table to open. Often times I have seen players leave because of such a long wait time, myself included.
If you were to ask me my opinion I believe a majority of the staff needs to be re trained and would even say management too. Seems that rulings for the same situation are different depending on who is running shift that day. Nobody in that room is on the same page and nobody takes accountability for their mistakes.
I know this entire review will get looked at and blown over and nobody will care and nothing will change and if that is the case, then I am scared for the future of this room and their staff.
