Venetian is not there for serious players. They are greedy and sneaky.
During their ongoing promotion where they hand out money to the 2 highest hands every 30 min, they take 3 (Three!) dollars to the "left" drop box for the promotion.
Even though this is a bit understandable, they do everything they can to "go under the radar" with their rake. Both cash and tournaments. (see article in poker news etc)
1st dealer took 11 dollar out of my first pot. I didn't notice until it was too late (I was confused, preflop raise was $10 with 3 callers. I only got $29 back in the pot... )
I asked the 2nd dealer how much they take, and she told me $3 to the promotion as soon as there is $10 in the pot. Plus 10% in rake, max $5. (to the right).
When the next dealer sits down I see that he takes $3 + $6.
He claims that's correct, so I asked the floor.
He then tells me it's $3 + $6, and asked me to point out the other dealer. He told me that they take $6 now for the promotion, and the dealer probably was off for a couple of days and it's a new month so she probably didn't know the change. - Now that is a weak bs excuse, because they run this promotion every other month! And the dealer was not new...
Same dealer also had a very stressful and demanding attitude. I'm far from slow at the table but got stressed every time it was my turn. (this was btw before I asked about the rake)
Next dealer, Regina, was a disaster. I counted 6 errors on a 30 min push.
Moved the button twice, next time not at all.
1 all in for his last $8, I raised to 20, and 2 other guys called. She couldnt understand why all 4 of us said it should be 32 in the main pot. And finally she said yes ok ok, and put 35...
Misread a hand and gave wrong change back. And misdeal. Plus 2 other mistakes I don't remember. A bad day work? Well I'm sure it wasn't the first...
Conclusion:
The room is taking way much rake, and are only giving $1/h in comp. See other reviews.
Dealers are very spread out from very good to very bad.
As a serious poker player and dealer myself, I can't justify playing there for 3 + 6 rake...
Pot size
$10 = $4 rake
$20 = $5 "
$30 = $6 "
$40 = $7 "
