July 4-9 Trip Planned; Tourney and Cash time ratio
I will be bouncing between PHo, and Rio from July 4-9. I plan on playing in some of the PHamous tourneys on 5&6 and WSOP dailies on 7&8, plus cash. How do folks normally split thier time between cash and tourneys during WSOP? Especially since the ME will be kicking off.
I'll second what Rob said about the tourneys taking a long time. The $235 Daily Deepstacks (which start at 3PM) will likely be running until after midnight -- I've seen them at after 11PM with probably 50-60 runners left. As someone who lives in town and plays a tight game, I love it. But, if you are here for a short trip, then you have to plan on that being your day and if you run deep not really doing anything else. If that's okay with you, then the $235 is a great value for the money and gets big fields with big top prizes.

My only recommendation is to NOT play cash games immediately before you plan to enter a tourney. Too often it results in entering the tourney while being tilted from cash, or less interested in the tourney because of the distance to payouts compared to the cash game.
If you win in a cash game and then decide to play a tourney, different story. But I always get off to bad starts going from cash to tourneys since the mindset requirements are so different.
