18 hour session at MGM during WPT event at Mirage
Arrived at McCarren at 7:30 am, took cab to Ballys for some 2-4 but only one nl table. Droppeed a buck on blackjack in an hour; ate breakfast. Walked all the way to MGM and was seated at 2-4 by 11am. Table was amazing, all novice players and one local. One guy was three betting with bottom pair ,up a buck after an hour. Grinded out another 50 in the next three hours and was ready to go to lunch, until the three bet bottom pair guy came back with TWO FULL RACKS! Couldn't leave just yet. He was determined to win this time and he did. He sat directly to my left and would raise every pot he entered (about 8/10), he was a virtual card rack for the next 2 hours, but when I got premium hands his raises would fatten the pot for me (especially in multi-way pots). We both were up 2 racks from the time that he sat down. I wanted to play higher at that point but a father-son duo sat down both with two full racks, and to sweeten the deal the dad said that this was only the second time he'd ever played poker (he was in town for the real estate convention). I didn't fully believe him until he played a few pots. Three hours later, 9pm, capped the flop and the turn in 3 way pot with nut st8 against kid my age who had K high st8 w/ his K/8 but i had it to the Ace w/ AK, 3rd player dropped out and the kid pushed it until he was all in. Had $450 in chips after big $120 pot, cashed in three racks and sat back down. Played 3 more hours at 2-4 and started to get bored (no cards). Got on a 5-10 table that had just opened up, cashed in $200 and was up early when I flopped a str8 w/ 3-5 in the bb. Nothing eventful for three hours and was back to even for that talble seeing very few flops. I saw the 3 bet guy back at a 4-8 table and decided to join him, not too much luck this time, lost 90 and it was now 5am, had to catch flight back to SF. MGM poker room was great, as were the dealers, management and cocktail waitress(especially them). Good company all night, I think I've found my favorite poker room on the Strip. I love these marathon sessions and catching the early bird flight home, 6:30 am (best of all I didn't even have to get a room). Ate all my meals at the poker table and after roughly 18 hours inside the MGM poker room won $300, about $16/hr not to mention the comp points. See you at the MGM!!
