My sis calls me from ATL and says that her annual conference this year is in Vegas and that her company springs for the room, and asks if me and my wife would like to go. Before she finished asking me I said "Heck yeah!!"

My wife doesn't like poker and thinks I spend too much time playing it. So I promised no poker while she was there with me.

My sister's conference was Sunday to Wed. So we got there Friday night and would stay till Wed, but my wife had to leave EARLY Monday.

I did play a bit of poker and BJ Sat. night and she was cool with it. Especially up $300 and paying for everything she wanted to do with my winnings, even sprung for my sis for inviting me, (Thanks again Sis)

Wife went to bed early Sunday night and I got my poker groove ON.

Went and played some BJ and poker and stayed out until 5 am so I could make sure my wife woke up in time and caught her plane (good excuse, huh?).
Now I'm up another $200 but already spent a lot of my winnings previously, but am very happy to have more than my original BR.

SAT:
After my wife leaves and I rest and I hit my fav. room, the Bellagio. I find that most of the lower limits there are rocks (locals) and extreme newbies intimidated my the whole ambience of the Bellagio.

I sit at table 19 with my back to "Bobby's room". Eli Elezra, Doyle, Carlos Mortenson, Ming (Pocket Kings), David Bennymine, and two others were playing. I have the perfect seat to watch them (table 19 seat #2). I start out with $400 of the max $500 and had $200 more in my pocket in case I get felted and needed to buy back in the 2/5 NL game. I lost $50 quickly and get no cards for 45 minutes and then everything changes. I pick up AA UTG and raise $50 (over bet on purpose) and guy reraises all-in. Yes, I know dream scenario. AA hold up now I have over $800. I pick up $100 here and $150 there and before I knew it I left with over $1300 worth of chips. I head back to the MGM and play some more for some reason and win another $36. After playing the Bellagio everything else pails in comparison. That is not fair to the others because some have just as good as tables and management, but to me the Bellagio is the MECCA of poker. That is just my opinion.

SUN:
I grab $600 and head back the Bellagio again to play in the daily tournament. Problem is, the WPT is now in town and the daily tournament has been suspended. Well that was sucky news so I sit down and play 2/5 NL again. I sit at table 20 or 22 and got NOTHING for over an hour. I asked to move to another after losing $300 in blinds and small calls. I move back to my fav table (19) wrong seat though and get down to $200 again, a cold deck. Finally, my seat opens and I move. After 20 min. this Italian aggressive gut sits down and chats like crazy and starts donating his money left and right. I was down to $150 with no money in my pocket and see KK in EP. I go all-in and he says finally got an ace or small pair and wanted to push. He calls and I double up ($330). A4 utg I limp and there was no raise. Flop comes As4hTh I raise a $20 bet all-in hoping for one caller but would be happy taking it down right there. Crazy Italian asks why I go all-in on a flush draw and calls. Turn...4 I'm golded now I'm up to $700 and the deck turns cold for over an hour. I didn't play one hand. Finally I get JJ in BB. 3 limpers and what do I do???? Check! like a MORON SUPER DONK!!! I decide AQK comes I will just run and be mad at myself for not raising. Flop comes AKJ all spades. Very aggressive asian woman raises my bet from $25 to $75. I put her on either AK or a flush draw. and since she is so aggressive and would have raise pre-flop with AK i put her on the flush draw. I called her raise hoping for the board to pair. turn...3d. I check/call $150. River was a blank and I figured she would fold like she did every other time I went all-in and she instantly called and showed the nut flush. I threw (flung) my JJ in the pile like a spoiled little brat and left with a sick feeling in my stomach thinking how I played that hand. still left Vegas with only $200 less than what I took and I spent A LOT of cash (paid for a lot of things for my sis and her husband since he tore his ACL and can't work right now). But if you can't help family who can you help and she didn't have to invite me.

I could talk more about the trip but this is long enough.
ANOTHER GREAT TRIP TO LAS VEGAS!!!!!

  1. Great report, what kind of room did you stay at in MGM? I'm heading to Vegas for my first time in July (when I turn 21) and already booked my room there, but I'm always open to more opinions.
