Two years ago my oldest daughter and I went to Vegas to celebrate her 21st birthday, not to be left out, my youngest daughter turned 21 the begining of June and wanted to take the same trip. We are both poker players and also enjoy watching tournaments on TV together.

We flew out to Vegas on Thursday June 8th for a 4 day trip and stayed at the Flamingo. The first day we did some exploring of the strip. We found out that the World Poker Tour final table was being played at Mandalay Bay. After over an hour wait we finally got inside to the final table filming area. This was both pretty cool and pretty boring(not knowing the players hands). We ended up the day at the Stratosphere, late at night, to see Vegas from 108 floors up. On our first day we did no gambling, no poker not even a slot machine.

Day 2 - Daughter went to the beautiful pool at the Falmingo while I played 2-4 limit (remember 2-4 limit is the only form of poker we played) at the Flamingo poker room. Nothing special to report and ended the session up just a few bucks. We went downtown that evening to play at Binion's. We bought in for $60.00 each and sat at the same table. Embarassed to say, after about about an hour and a half, Daughter cashes out for about double and I cash out for about half. We walked accross the street to play at the Golden Nugget. Again we sat at the same table and both cashed out up about $20.00.

Day 3 - More sight seeing and visiting strip hotels to see the attractions and various poker rooms. In the evening we played at the Paris and neither of us could get any good hands to play. Left and went to Aladdin. A new 2-4 table was opened and we took our seats. Some bad beats after some players chased draws to the river and hit them. The interesting thing at the Aladdin was we saw three high hand jackpots (quad 2's, quad J's, and quad A's) all at our table during our approximate 6 hours of play. Daughter cashed out up about $60.00 ahead and I lost $80.00.

Day 4 - Played at Bally's when a new table was opened up. Daughter had pocket aces cracked when a played hit his inside straight draw on the river and didn't know he even had the straight. I played over 3 orbits and never saw a flop. I did hit one nice hand with trip 5's and finished about even. while my daughter lost about $50.00. Left there for our final session of the trip. We both sat at the same table at the Flamingo and again my daughter had pocket aces cracked to (you guessed it) a gut shot straight on the river. I finished down about $10.00 and she was down about $40.00.

Summary - This was her first time in a live poker room and my first time to play hold-em in Vegas. I found 2-4 limit in Vegas to be much looser than even $.50 - $1.00 on line. Drink service, for the most part, was good in every casino that we played in. We saw alot of the strip and downtown and had a great time.

I had done alot of reading on this site prior to our trip and found the information very helpful. I hope that my report was entertaining and useful as well.
