I'll do my best here, but because of the "partying" factor, there are parts of this trip that are patch

Day 1, Friday:
Arrive in Vegas at about Noon. My luggage missed the connection. My buddy (F1) and I cabbed it to the IP. Tried the $20 trick to no avail (…yet! see my post in that thread).
F1 and I checked in and one of our other friends (F2) came over from his hotel (off-strip). After having a few pops and shootin the shit, we hit the strip to get a feel for some of the nearby rooms. Somehow, we ended up at OSheas, where we decided the 1-5 SL would be positive beer EV. While there, another friend (F3), and a Local Buddy (LB), eventually showed up to complete the party of 5.
I held my own, barely playing any hands at the 1-5, and ended up cashing out +$18.
At 9pm, all 5 of us bought into the $45 O'Sheas donkament which had 3 tables worth of players. This tourney has a horrible structure and even worse players, but it runs like 5 times a day and always seemed to have at least 2 tables going, even at 3am. What the hell, it’s only $45! I played it 4 times, and never cashed at any of them. Although F1 chopped four times in a row!
My most memorable hand: just over an hour into the +/-3 hour event, I was dealt QQ on the bb, which was 10% of my stack. Finally, a hand! Dealer exposes an Ace on the deal, which ends up being the new burn card. 2 limpers (mp and sb), and I pop it to 1k. MP folds, SB calls and the flop comes AA6 rainbow. He checks, and I push my remaining 3k in. He insta-calls, tables the CASE Ace, and starts berating my terrible play. I silently get up, tell him "good luck", and wander away hoping I don't see too many other one outers in the next 6 days. Boy, was I hoping for the impossible!
The rest of the night was spent slamming beers while holding my own in VP at the IP. All 4 of my buddy's joined me with the news that they all chopped it 4 ways! Good for them! We sat there until about 6am. We got Crunked. My luggage showed up at about 11pm.

Day 2, Saturday: Since we were partying, playing VP until like 6am the previous night, I ended up sleeping until about 1pm, and was in rough shape, I never ate anything the previous day! We all hit the cafe at IP, and after we ordered, F3 and I went back down stairs to have a smoke. He then tells me he's gonna go throw one $5 bet on 31 in Roulette. I join him and decide to also throw down a nickel, but on 4. I hit it for $175, one spin! and head back upstairs to tell the gang. I ended up buying lunch.
They all decide to play the 5pm at O'Sheas, and I reluctantly join them. I wasn't focused at all and gave my chips away in the first 45 minutes. I then hit the 8pm tourney solo at IP. $80 buy in, with $10 of that in bounties. Myself and one other guy chop the 2 shorthanded-table tourney for 350 each, plus I had 6 bounties. $410 on $80 ain't bad! This would end up being the first and only cash in a tourney for the rest of the week.
The remainder of the night was wager free, well, except for that $50 I blew in a WOF Slot!

Day 3, Sunday: Spent entire day watching, and betting on the NFL. Best play of the day: 5 units on @PIT-6.5 vs HOU. Worst Play: SD & NE killing my parlays!

Day 4, Monday: Hit the front desk to complete the upgrade (see “$20 Trick” thread). Not much gamblin’ this day. Lot’s of drinking I think. F3 leaves.

Day 5, Tuesday: Wake up refreshed at 10 am! F2 and I head to Venetian for Noon tourney. I win the first 5 hands of the tournament, and never win another. AA snapped right after the first break. I’m first to act pre-flop, and am on a short stack. I push with rockets and get called by 2 players: K10o and Q10s. Flop is J 4 10 rainbow, both players get all in. Turn is garbage, like a 3 or 4 or something, and then the river: the case 10. C’ya! Time to party!

To be continued…

  1. Just a thought on your bad beat with QQ in your first tourney. If the BB represents 10% of your stack, you probably should have pushed all-in especially with 2 limpers already in. Figuring if you had 10BB, pushing and dragging the small pot nets you 2.5BB (the two limpers + SB), increasing your stack by 25%. Otherwise, thats really tough luck and the guy was an idiot for calling knowing one A is gone.

  2. Nice trip report. I hadn't heard anything much about the Oshea's tourneys...sounds like free for all  Congrats on the chop.

  3. Nice report. Could you post a link to your 20 dollar trick post? I'm always interested in how this works out for folks, and haven't been able to find it so far.
