A chip and a chair....and a revival
Came out with family and friends to Las Vegas for some fine dining, sun and of course POKER! Friday night 3-21-08 five of us entered the Planet Hollwood tournamnet. The room is good, roomy and the waitresses cute, nice and earn their tips.
We started with 4000 in chips and through mis-reads, mismangement and bad luck I was down to one single 100 dollar chip at the first break. We came back from the break and of course I"m in the big blind which is 400. I put my chip out there announce "all-in" and don't even bother to look at my cards. 3 guys call and there is a nice side pot going. I"m just waiting to leave and get a drink when suddenly we flip up our cards and I had two pair and won 400!. The next hand I get AK of hearts and go all-in, 3 callers and I hit and A and a K on the flop and I now have 1600. I sit back for a few hands when I pick up a pair of tens and go all in and get two callers. My pair holds up and I have almost 5000. I get some decent cards that hold up and before the next break i"m up to 17,000. The tables keep merging and I make the final table with about 38,000. I lose half my stack when a drunk can't figure out to raise properly and fumbles/drops his chips all over and the dealer tells him it's only a call. He complains he wanted to raise but with 68o in my hand in the big blind I"m happy to se a flop. The flop comes 4 5 7 with two spades. I hit a straight! He goes all-in and I call and of course he hits a flush. We were down to 6 players when the chip leader with about half the chips agrees to donate $200 of first place money to the pool and the rest of us split it for $380 each.
My friends were shocked I was able to come back but I bought them a drink and we laughed about my experience.
Nice score and good read!
VERY Good story. One of my first cashes at a B&M was at P.H. where I finished 5th where the paid the top 9 out of about 100 players. Remindes me a lot of what happended to me there once about 1 year ago.
Humor me as I rant just a bit about my story.
On the last hand before the 1st break I was all in on a open ended straight flush draw, when I rivered the flush. My freind had took a sick bad beat at another table and was already out, I was not playing well and was not into it. Everyone at the table had left or was stacking their chips for the race off when I was last to act on the guy to my rights all in bet.
After I caught it on the river he proceded to tell me how bad I was and how much I suck. I ignored him but my friend started to take up for my defense and tell the guy that Hey he had at least 15 outs and maybe as many as 21 that it wasn't a bad call. Well, he got under my friends never enough that during the break my buddy told me now you have to break him and I want to watch you do it. So, he watched our table for the next 40 mins. He waves me over to the rail says watch how he plays and stracks his chips as he bets, when he is weak, he is acting quickly and pushing them in a large group.
Well about 15 mins later (I am the small blind and he(new villian) is the big blind) and I have dead mans hand and I make the call.
Flop is Ace 10 6 rainbow.
I check first when action is on me as there are 4 of us in the hand and I am thinking at the far end of the table I may have kicker issues.
Well, after my check he quickly pushes in for about 60% of his stack.
The other two fold and I glance over at my buddy, he gives me the knowing nod, of yup I think he is weak. I look over at my new villian and call. Turn was an 8.
I check again and he quickly pushes all in, I call (would have without the . He flips over his 7/10 and starts to piss and moad some. River was a blank. I was thinking, you would have been fine but you made it personal for my buddy.
Anyways, my friend leaves to join a cash game and the tournment went on. I bust out in 5th when my pocket jacks lose all in to ace queen.
By the time I get back from the cashier (about 5 mins later) another player had gone out and the remining 3 chopped it.
Sorry, to get side tracked with my own story its just yours reminded me of my own experience at PH. 1 card away from being done to in the money.
