A magical engagement

My boyfriend Chris wanted to take me to Vegas for our 3 year anniversary. He delivered on that promise with beautiful results!

Day 1- Wednesday -------
We flew out of Southwest airlines from Chicago with no major issues. We didn't get to sit together though since we were in the C boarding group. We kept trying and trying to print out our boarding passes the night before our trip and there seemed to be an issue with the Southwest server. We got to Vegas around 9 a.m.

We took the shuttle to the Rental Car Center where we got a Dodge
Avenger in Silver from Thrifty. We then immediately made our way to the Venetian. The front desk representative kindly greeted us . My boyfriend had some money in his hand and asked for a strip or pool view but the front desk representative said it would be 50 bucks extra per night. I guess she didn't want the extra cash. My boyfriend asked where the shoe shine area was and she told him that his shoes could be delivered to the shoe shine area and then returned to him at the room before 6pm. He gave her the shoes and a small tip. We then made our way to a room on the 2nd floor.
I believe the room was not remodeled BUT it was spectacular!
The room was bigger than my 1 bedroom apartment and the bathroom just overwhelmed me. The toilet was in it's own little room .
The separate shower and bath were great!
We had plenty of bath toiletries and had robes.
The maid greeted us as we were coming in and asked us if we needed anything too! The view wasn't that bad. We saw some mountains and a bit of Ballys/Paris.

After check in we made our way to the food court.
We had Panda Express.
I love Panda Express!
After lunch my boyfriend ordered two spa services for me at the Canyon Ranch Spa. I got a 50 minute massage and a 50 minute facial. He got himself an 80 minute massage.
I was in pure bliss after my spa treatments.
The Canyon Ranch was really nice.
Chris had left before me to get ready and told me to meet him at the room when I was done. I tipped the massage therapist and facialist and made my way up to the room to get ready!!

After we got dolled up when we to VALENTINO'S ( in the Venetian ). We ordered some drinks right off the bat and our meals.
I got a 10 oz filet and some grilled vegetables. My boyfriend got a seafood dish ( I forgot exactly what it was ). We both really enjoyed our meals. Valentino's had EXCELLENT SERVICE and a very nice decor.
We split a chocolate cake for dessert.
It was an expensive meal but worth it.

Now it was time for the BIG EVENT.
We made our way to the Gondola ride.
We got on our private Gondola and it was lovely.
Right after we got to the dock Chris unbuckled his seat belt and got down on one knee to propose to me. I was in tears!!
The ring SPECTACULAR and the proposal OVERWHELMING.
People were clapping and cheering and the atmosphere was so light and free!!
The photographer took several pictures and handed me a beautiful dozen of roses that my mom had for me.
Chris had a hard time getting the Gondola reservation set up properly because I was there so he called my mom in Chicago and she spoke with a concierge specialist by the name of Linda Lee.
It couldn't have been any better!!
I felt like a Princess in a FAIRY TALE.

Day 2 - Thursday ----
We slept late. After we got ready we went to the Grand Luxe Cafe for Lunch. I had the Chicken Parmesian and Chris had a huge Omlet.
We then went to the Fashion Show Mall for Chris to get some dress pants.
He got a nice pair from Express Men.
We then went into Louis Vutton.
Chris has planned on getting me a cell phone holder for the holidays but thought it would be a NICE engagement present now.
I thought the Fashion Show Mall was GREAT for high end shopping.
We then went to Treasure Island to play some Poker.
I read read some really nice things about the Treasure Island Poker Room on All Vegas Poker so we made our way there.
I won $600 dollars and Chris didnt' do well.
I mainly won pots with two pairs such as ACE KING
and KING QUEEN
and I won a monster with an ACE HIGH FLUSH !!!
The room was small but very technologically advanced. They had high hand payouts which I think are very good.
The dealers were efficient and VERY FRIENDY.
The registration desk attendants were also very efficient and friendly.
I really liked this room and when I go back to Vegas I will definitely play there if I can.
We left TI to get ready for LeReve.
We walked over to Wynn from Venetian as the traffic on Las Vegas B was a nightmare. A player at our table suggested it would be quicker to walk to Wynn and so we did. He was correct as traffic was awful on LVB.
We got our tickets for LeReve in the VIP section.
We sat in very comfortable seats and Simone waited on us.
She poured us champaigne throughout the whole performance.
We also had chocolate covered strawberries for our champaigne.
The show was mindblowing.
It had great lighting , music , costumes , and performing.
It combined land , water, and sky elements.
After the show I signed up for A RED CARD.
I did manage to get 300 points on my card for about 150 bucks of slot play. We would get to eat at the buffet tomorrow !!!
After I got my slot points I met Chris up at the Wynn Poker Room.
I played some 4/8 and he was at an 8/16 table.
WE both did not fare well.
Chris HATES limit but that was all that was available.
I am beginning to not like limit either.
We were sucked out by people playing almost EVERY HAND no matter what. One lady besides me said that she was filthy rich and no fold em hold em was exactly her game! She stated you can't win if you don't play and any two live cards in limit
hold em' can work wonders.
I think one has more control with no limit holdem'.
After I was cleared of another 150 dollars at the Wynn and Chris was cleared of about 200 , we left!!!
The Poker room was very nice and the drink service was SO SPEEDY.
I love the decor at the Wynn!
I think it is better than the Bellagio ( just my opinion )! The one thing I didn't like was the fact that you could get a pager , BUT you had to give them a hundred dollar deposit.

Day 3 - Friday --------
I went to the Venetian Tower Pool early in the morning to swim for an hour. The Venezia Tower Pool had no sun and I wanted some sun.
After I got back to the room and ready we made our way to the Wynn for lunch. The buffet was very good.
The selection was diverse and the quality of the food was fresh.
I then dropped off Chris at Binions and I went to the Outlet Mall
west of downtown. I didn't buy much as outlet mall shopping is hit or miss. Today for me it was a miss.
I then went back to Binions and sat down at a 1-2 limit table.
I lost about 100 bucks there but got to play very very very long. I started at a feeder table and then moved to the main table. The feeder table was more aggressive than the main table.
They were pretty passive!!!!
The conversation was good and the play for the most part was good.
Chris didn't do that well either.
He was not having any POKER luck this trip.
We left Binions and went to Inn and Out Burger.
We don't have them in Chicago so it was a TREAT.
LVB was a mess so I took Tropicana to Koval back to the Venetian.
We finished up the night playing 1-2 no limit Poker.
I won a whopping 31 dollars and Chris lost I think $200.
He had queens and raised. He was re-raised by some punk who had like a 2-7 off suit and walaaaa a 2-7-and somehow made their way
on the board. Chris thought his queens would have held up as he didn't think anyone would raise with a 2-7 offsuit but ohhhwell.
AGAIN, POKER was not good for CHRIS.

1/2 day 4- Saturday ----
I went down to the pool.
I was very sad after I got back from the pool.
I got ready for the day and packed up.
Chris was all ready to go before I got back from the pool.
I didn't want to leave the beautiful room and my roses
( My mom ordered a beautiful vase for the roses to be displayed in the room while we were there).
I told the maid to take them home as they were still somewhat fresh.
We ate again at Panda Express and said goodbye to the Venetian.
We dropped off the car and made it back to the airport with no problem.
Flight home was smooth and we did get to sit together this time.

Thanks for reading and may all your poker ventures be profitable ones !

  7. Great trip report Becky. Loved reading and it brought back memories of me and my wife's recent 10th anniversary trip. My only comment is PANDA EXPRESS?!? C'mon Becky! If you want REAL Chinese food next time try Venetian's own Noodle Asia!!! It's probably my ALL-TIME FAVORITE Chinese restaurant in the world!!! Yes, you read that right!

  8. Great trip report and congrats to you! You're right about no foldem holdem, but sometimes when they chase and don't catch, you can take a lot of their chips

  9. How wonderful is this trip report? We're so used to dry trip report about "trip", and bad beat. Now, this is really really refreshing.

Congrat to you, what a nice way to propose, just like a movie script perfect!
