A Week of Gambling
I arrived in Vegas the week of April 24th with a friend of mine and we were content on playing as much poker as possible in a week's span in as many rooms as we could. At least that was the plan from the outset. We only got to maybe three rooms because we had so much fun at the MGM Grand Poker Room that we played most of time there.
We got there to the MGM on a Wednesday night and played in the 6pm tourney which was ran very well we thought. Even though we didn't make the money, we had a blast playing our first tourney for the week. After the tourney, we sat down to play some 1/2 NL which seems like the popular game at the MGM Grand as multiple tables of it was spread. We were sat down by the floor and gotten chips very quickly by the chip runners there. Played for a few hours and ended up a few bucks. My buddy didn't do so well as he lost his 200 bucks because some guy sucked out on him with pocket 5's that made a set on the turn to his Aces. The dealers were all great at the MGM and we had no complains with any of them. They were all very friendly and more then willing to hold a conversation with you without slowing down the game.
We slept in Thursday morning and headed down to Casear's to play. We played 3/6 limit there for a few hours and enjoyed our time there but the room seemed kind of dead. No complains from us about the management and the dealers there as they were just as good at the MGM ones we encountered the last night. Went to play the 7pm tourney at the Sahara because we heard it was a good tourney to play in. We weren't dissappointed even though we didn't make the money.
Went back to the MGM Friday night to play some more 1/2 NL and it was busy when we got there. Had to wait a few minutes to get a seat, but Mark the floorman got us to our table not too long after putting our names on the list. Bought in for 200 again at 1/2 and proceeded to go card dead for a little while until some guy tried to bluff me on the river when i turned the nut straight so i gladly called and doubled up. I think we quit around 1am after turning in a $300 win.
Played a little Saturday morning before our flight left back for Phoenix. All in all, we had a great time for the few days we were in town. We will probably next time just be playing all the time at the MGM Grand because we had so much fun there. The vibe of that room is great. Some people don't like the music from the bar next to it but i like it because it makes a fun atmosphere to relax and play poker. The staff at the MGM Grand is top notch and whoever did the hiring there should get a gold star or something because we never had a complaint about anything there
Cheers
