I came to Vegas for a wedding and to get my feet wet playing poker in Vegas. I have only played live in California, predominately at Oceans 11 in Oceanside (shameless plug!). I played my first night at the Golden Nugget, I was a little disappointed with the fact that the biggest game they spread was the 4-8 HE. So anyway, I sat and ground out to just a little over even after 3 hrs. A lot of drunken calls that irritated me, but what did I expect? The next day I sat at the 10:00 am tourney at Binions. I did really well, I chopped 1st & 2nd with a guy named Chris. Won $480! 2nd night at the Nugget at the 4-8 table. I was doing really well, but let me at least tell you my one bad beat. I was in the BB with QQ. 5 limpers, I raised. All called to the button who re-raised. I re-raised to guage his hand, He re-raised again, so I figured him for AA. I called to see the flop. It came Q,8,5! We started jamming the pot with bets. The turn came 8! Full House. The river came A!!!!!! I was crushed, I checked and called 1 bet to see his pocket AA. Anyway, I ended up $115 to the positive at the end of the night. Last night, again at the Nugget, 4 hours, won $200. Over all a GREAT trip! I thought the Nugget poker room was OK. Except for one awful dealer, all seemed competant, drinks came often from what I saw. Management could have managed the tables a little better, but they did change the table I was playing from a 2-4 to a 4-8 because we were all on the list to play that game.
