Aria,Bellagio,Venetian
City Center and the Aria poker room are a mixed bag. Always loved the look of CC as it was going up. Fantastic modern architecture. The scale of the place is , however, not human in scale. Way too big and threaTENING AND STERILE IN ITS MODERNITY. (excuse caps) Loads of looky loos but not many spenders in my view. I walked through the B to Vdara and to CC, not a bad walk for Vegas. Took the tram back. 45 second ride, silly. I predict that CC will be a $8 billion dollar loser. It will cannabilize the top rooms and hotels. They need $450 million daily to break even. Good luck in this economy which will be in the dumps at least to 2012.
The Aria poker room is very pleasant looking if a bit dark. Loved the brass card decorations all over the place. Good seats and table without cup holder. More room than the B. Management very pleasant and welcoming . dealers completely professional and efficient yet pleasant.
I like $4-8 which is not spread. Surprisingly they spread a $3-6 game then go to $8-16. I guess they don't do $4-8 because the B does and the B does not do $3-6. Must make sense to someone. I played $3-6 for about 3 hours on Monday the 20th. Made about $100 in 3 hours. Cocktail waitress very very slow, I was surprised. Something about a shift change like that's an excuse. With all the talk about high technology I found the men's roomn very low technology and not that great looking. Food and drink are so expensive that you have to be nuts to buy there. These guys built this place in boom times. Someone ought to tell them we're in a bust.
I stayed @ The B, where I usually stay. $99 poker rate hard to beat. Comps not as good as they were before the card readers were installed. In spite of some of the surly floor guys, esp if you are playing $4-8 B is still a really good room. I found it more comfortable than Aria. By the way I went back to Aria on Tuesday. They had 1 $3-6 game going. Told me there would be a 10 minute wait. I waited 15 and left for the B . Both days I was there, once in late afternoon and once in the morning, the place , Aria, was half empty. Back to the B where the action was real loose.Loads of tourists, almost the whole table. Very easy game, easiest I've seen. Made a few hundred $$. Funny, got up to get a bite about 8 AM,when I returned the game had folded. Same thing happened to me the previous night around 8PM. Very strange,
After the 8AM game folded on Tuesday morning I checked out of B and drove up to The V. There was 1 $4-8 game going \with 8 players. It was heaven. The whole table was fish. I should know, that is often me. These guys would raise with straights when 3e of a suit was on the board. Play over and over again withace high or a low pair. Like I said heaven. I picked up $500 in 3 hours. Left after one of the players won a pot from me and announced-"You can't win every pot sir. I won't allow it".
Unlike many on this site I am not in love with the V, though this last experience guarantees my return. Can't put my finger on it but I prefer both the B and Wynn to the V.
This is a very unusual report as I am reporting a profit These dxays b efore Christmas appear to be a perfect time to play poker in LV.
