AVP meet

Flew in Saturday morning the 7th for the AVP meet. I was so excited this weekend was finally here, I partied up a little too much the night before. Note to self, do not fly with a hangover (it's tough to get on all fours in a airplane restroom). Oh well, lesson learned. I chilled in my Harrah's room trying to recover while watching my football bets quickly go to hell. Stumbled down to the Venetian to hydrate and try out their room for the first time. Wow, Figi water...and it's room temperature. It's a great room and the competition wasnt as tough as I thought it might be; money can be made here for those of us who arent pros...and the room smells nice. Speaking of nice; the massage girls were stunning. They were worth whatever they charge. I should have gotten one; being married, that's as close to a lap dance as I'd get...No great hands of note and cashed out up $160. Shared a room with stickyfingers and we made a pact to split any unlikely winnings from the AVP tourney. This is my first live tourney of any kind and I didnt like my chances. The tourney started late, but the format allowed for actual play rather than all-in fests I read about at other rooms. Stickyfingers came in about third...from last. I somehow came into the $ in 7th place. I was so proud to make the final table I wasnt concerned about the payout (think we split about $300 after tipout). I had a great time and met some great people. I do admit it was a longer structure than I'd be comfortable playing outside an AVP meet; i think I played about 7-7.5 hours...
Unfortunately this was the highpoint of my trip. I did not post a winning session the rest of the weekend. I took advantage of the Harrah's morning promo Sunday and Monday though. I also played a little 1-2 with LVM who was kind enough to bluff me out of a hand then show me ...good times. I'll spare you the donk specifics, but I know I made a horrible check...
Sunday was more terrible nfl picks leaving me pondering why I think I know more than the oddsmakers. Dragged fingers to see Carrot Top to break up the poker bleeding, my treat in case the show sucked. CT was pretty funny and definitely worth $39 a ticket from tix4tonite. Sprinkled some more money at Excalibur hearing it was a soft game. They were friendly tables with little preflop raises and plenty of checking...kinda felt like a passive home game.
Monday was more Harrah's morning promo sitting with vegas regulars. It's fun knowing Im one of only two non-locals at the table, but the regs were friendly people (havent used "friendly" and "locals" in the same sentence much no offense). Decided to clean up and we threw the dice a little in the Harrah's sportsbook. Winning dice and bottomless martini's equal good times! We cabbed it to P Ho for some more 1-2 donations and I didnt disappoint. I ended up at IP playing with a new table of vacationers some so old they took forever to act, but were bold enough to call clock on another player when gramps wasnt even in the hand. I couldnt believe it...gramps busted soon and the easy money thinned out. Back to Harrahs to spend my last four hours playing 1-2 to collect my $30 promo and broke even.
All in all I only dropped about $400 gambling and a third of that was sports bets. I felt I played well overall with only two noteable hands played poorly..the rest who knows. I had a great time at the meet and met some great people; great to meet Alaska gal and enjoyed Dominic dealing on Sunday. LVM thanks for a great meet and the nice bluff leaving me with a story...thanks for taking the time to read.
