Bad Beats in 3 Different Rooms

Took my daughter to Vegas for her 21st birthday present and brought along my 22-yr old nephew to help celebrate (mom stayed home).

Got a great deal on flight/room through SW Airlines Vacations. Checked into the Bellagio and because of a note I had seen in a AVP post, I slipped the desk clerk a $20 bill and she set us up in a great room on the 18th floor, looking directly over the lake and water show towards Paris and the Strip. Also, gave us a line pass for the buffet which came in handy as wait was around 45 minutes. Thanks AVP !!

My daughter headed off to the shops in Planet Hollywood and my nephew and I headed for the poker room at Bellagio. WPT Doyle Brunson Classic was going on in roped-off area outside poker room. Saw Daniel Negraneau, Gus Hansen, Hoyt Corkins, Todd Brunson, David "Devilfish" Ulliott, etc. Havad Khan was hanging around and started visiting with us, so I took my nephew's picture with him. Long list at the Bellagio poker room, so we headed over to Casesars.

We both got seated pretty quickly in a new $1-$3 NL game at Caesars. I bought in for $300 and was ready to play some poker! On my VERY FIRST HAND I was dealt pocket 9s and flop comes 9-10-10. I flopped the boat and promptly lost all $300 to a guy who flopped quad 10's. Ouch!!

Took my daughter to Brooks and Dunn concert at Las Vegas Hilton while my nephew continued playing poker. He ended up $400 on the day.

I was up early on Sunday to place football bets and play $2-$5 NL at Bellagio. Won a $662 pot when my AsQs held up on a board of A-J-9-7-4 with 4 diamonds on board. Bad beat at Bellagio came when I raised on the button to $25 with As-3s. Two callers. Flop comes 4-5-7. Checked to me, I fire $25 continuation bet. 1 caller. 2 on the turn gives me str8. Villian fires $50, I raise to $150, he calls and I smell something fishy (me). River is a blank. Villain fires $100 and I call. He shows 6-8 for a flopped str8. I didn't consider that someone would call $25 pre-flop raise with 6-8 offsuit. My bad....

Bobby's room was hopping as I saw at different times: Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Eli Elezra, David Benyamine, Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan and Phil Hellmuth. Also saw Phil Laak and Vince Van Patton playing some $30-$60 NL with piles of $100 chips and bricks of cash in front of all 10 players.

My daughter was finally ready to start the day so we headed down to the Fashion Show Mall. After shopping with her for at least 10 mintues, my nephew and I excused ourselves and headed over to the Wynn for some $1-$3 NL. Seated fairly quicky and both got to play at same table. I get involved in a hand with 2 other players and catch flush on the turn. First player fires $100, villian calls $100 and I go over the top all in for $260. First guy folds and villian calls with 2 pair, K's and J's. River brings another Jack for full house. Ouch!!
Later, I flop a str8 and double my stack against a guy that flopped a set. Only problem was the guy was my nephew! I gave him his money back when we cashed out......

Tough run of cards but we still had a blast and I can't wait to come back.

Thanks to everyone for posting their trip reports.

I can't recall a time I've heard of such a brutal first hand, I've had several like that but only after I've been firmly planted awhile.

Nice TR, sounds like a fun trip, and you'll bring that money home on your next visit

  2. Sounds like Oliver Hudson's first hand against Sam Farha in the WSOP Main Event a couple years ago.

  3. I lost all my chips on my first hand last night with KK vs 6c7c but I don't feel quite as bad after reading your story.

    Yikes.

Did you go on tilt and donk off another $300 like I did?

    :disappointed:
