Bally's - May be the best place to play.
Bally's:
I've been to Bally's a few times now and the most recent was August 2007.
Bally's poker room is located in the perfect location - on the strip close to Caesars Palace
The dealers are friendly, fast and efficient.
The drinks come fast (close bar) and the players...many suck!
I won about $330 in 3 hrs playing ABC poker.
Many players were there to give away their cash.
One guy slow rolled the nuts and ticked off a young kid.
They have a sushi bar downstairs in the mall and Paris is close enough by the walk (through the casino) and get a delicious french crepe.
Palms:
Worth the ride to get there. They had one 2/5 game going and no 1/2 game. I lost my first $300 then re-bought. Picked up KK and flopped a set OVER set with a guy with 88! Won that $675 pot and left - up $57. Not bad.
Overall the players seemed well skilled compared to Bally's. No one was giving their money away easily.
Planet Hollywood:
Nice new casino.
The poker room is nicely located - right in front when you walk into the casino.
The room is neat and nice looking.
They hand shuffled the cards. I prefer a machine.
They had only one table going. I guess a lot of people have not yet discovered this cool poker room. There were a few young college age looking kids and one women that looked to be in her 60's. I lost $15 in 2 hours. Not much action.
I find the Wynn's 1-3 NL game almost always has one, two or three soft spots.
I played 3/6 at Bally's Monday night. (+$30) first session against some pretty weak players. I left after several guys started a pre-flop raising contest when my wife showed up and we walked around a while.
Second session at a different table (-$56) - one of my 2 worst sessions on trip (most of my sessions stayed within the +30/-30 range because I play pretty tight). As stated, many players were not good, although some were obviously more savvy than others. I just had an unlucky run of high cards that I played aggressively and ran into straights. Happens in low limit. Finally I had a pair of Q's actually hold up on a board that had 99KK, which brought me halfway back from almost broke to over half my $100 buy-in.
Best thing about Bally's poker room - they serve Alaskan Amber ale (my favorite) - which is the main reason I returned for the 2nd session. Turned out to be the most expensive beer I've ever had. Shoulda just returned, paid the bar $5 for it and left.
