Arrived on Tues. morning, checked into Golden Nugget and went to the poker room. Played the $2, $4 limit game. Played for about 3 hours at this session doubled up did real week. Had a couple of beats on the river. A lot of calling stations at that table that would call to the river with bottom pair, then hit trips on the river!

Went to Mandalay bay to play the 10 am tournament , found out that all tournaments for the week were canceled due to WPT tournament going on. Played the 11 am tournament at Excalibur, won the tournament, some good players but a lot of less expericened players as well. Got lucky at final table , caught some good cards at the right time. First place paid about $350.00. Went back to Mandalay bay to watch the PROs for a while. Saw several we all know from TV.

Played the 11 am tournament at Luxor, the next day short stacks at this tourament , if you don't get cards early plan for a quick exit. I didnt and exited quickly. Player not that great but a lot of fun at the table.
Back to Nugget for Cash game late at night. Really different class of players in the card room late at night. This is the only session I lost at. Several very good local players at the table. Biggest had was trips that lost to flush on the river.

Last day checked out of hotel at noon , bus for airport leaving at 3, what else go back to poker room. Played three hours , left wining about $50.00. When I left the table of the 10 people playing 7 were locals. They all knew each other and the dealers knew them. One of the locals told me that he "dropped by" every day after he got off work. Played very tight, some of the locals would try to bet you out of pots, called one to the river to end up beating him with better kicker.

Over all very good experience, looking forward to going back would play at all three rooms again,

  1. Glad to hear you had a fun trip playing poker in Las Vegas. Congratulations on winning the Excalibur tournament! As for the calling stations, that's the nature of low limit texas hold'em, nothing you can do about it, just hope they don't hit their draws!
