Went to Vegas March 23-26 for annual fantasy baseball draft and decided to play only tourneys and bet on the alma mater LSU in the NCAA (which went well).

Day 1. Arrived at 3:30 and checked into MGM. Was happy to learn they had a 6:00 $125 tourney. 8 tables going that night but no cards for me. Had fun watching LSU beat Duke but took a beating in the tourney. Nice mix of locals and tourists but all seemed to know their poker. Best starting had in first hour was 88. WIth 15 min levels hard to get anything going. Loose players seemed to do well. Out in 28th.

Still had the poker itch and entered a $65 SNG. Lots of fish in this game. Only had one other at the table that remotely knew the game. However, called down on everything and luck will always get you sooner or later. Finished third when big stack called my QQ with T8s and hit a straight. Sickening.

Day 2. Wanted to hit an early morning tourney but couldn't get up. Inwtead made it to the Caesar's Noon $80 + $50. Belive all that you read about this tourney. Was the highlight of the trip. Everything about this tourney was Perfect. Dealers. Room. Players. Limits. Starting chips. All made for great time. Competion was best I saw all trip very few fish though about 1/3 tourists. More locals than I expected but more pro than grinders (more about that later). 45 minute levels were quite a treat. Was literally down to my last chip albeit a $1000 chip but was able to work my way back up. Turning point was about 2 hours in. Local new to my table seated at my left. In middle position I get KJs. Three limpers and I raise to 4x as table had tighted up dramatically last round or so (antes had just started). Local to left (small blind) calls and one of limpers calls. Flop KT4. Limper checks and I go all in for $3000 (which was pot size). Local goes into tank as a call is 2/3 of his chips. He folds after. He's dying to know my hand and I show K. On me for 15 minutes as to what other card was. I triple up in next 20 min playing aggressive with mid pairs TT and 99 all in against guys who have been shoving in with any two face cards. RIde that to final table. One of locals tells me its 5 locals (including one of biggest blackjack players in Vegas) 2 Swedes and 2 tourists (including me) Place 6th good for $928. Very happy but was 7 Hours!!!!!.

Get dinner and buddies all pile into town. Despite being exhausted they talk me into Aladdin 2am tourney. Different and drunker crowd than Caesars but a fun and still poker saavy group. Another slow start but aggressive play in middle rounds puts me in final table. Very good luck with 99 and TT again. Another 6th (out of 90) for $218.

Day 3 Spend most day at Fantasy baseball draft but finish off the night at Sahara for 11pm tourney. Heard very good things on this site about Sahara tourneys. Must say that I was very disappointed. Turned out to be a dealers convention. Buddy and I were literally the only non-dealers at final 3 tables. Sharp poker players to be sure but Jesus I've never heard so much bitching at a table. Why'd you call?, What'd you have? Can't we play faster? Blah, blah, blah times 100. And no I not impressed that you are the manager of the card room at the Plaza (which was announced when player goes into tank before folding AT to my AK). Almost releived when my AK gets beat by 77 for 27th (out of 100+). My advice for out of towners is avoid the poker rats.

Cant beat Caesars and Aladdins tons of fun.
