Finding a Game -- Center Strip 8am -- Easier said than done!

Started at the Imperial Palace (absolutely dead, despite a big poker tournament with satellites later that day), then to the Flamingo, whose 2 -4 game broke up at 8am and had 4 players at no-limit. I stopped in at O'Shea's (nothing going on), then Harrahs with only 3 players at no-limit, and ended up at the the Mirage -- finally a 3 -6 game in progress and I was second on the waiting list. While waiting I phoned the TI (dead), Venitian (only a few at a no-limit game), and Caesars (dead) poker rooms. After a 25 minute wait at the Mirage, I was in the only game they had going -- a 3-6 limit game. A 1-5 stud game started up with a bunch of old timer/local players at about 10am. At noon, I went back to the Flamingo where they now had lively poker action at several tables.

The Flamingo continues to be my favorite for low limit poker, ALMOST 24 hours per day. The dealers are top notch and fun, and they attact a nice, mostly tourist clientelle. Most of the tables have automatic shufflers, there are high hand jackpots and other promotions to increase the fun. The management is efficient and manages the wait lists well, spotting open seats and seating players quickly. They create new tables once there are a few on the wait list, so there is rarely a long wait to play.
