Day 1: Arrive Friday in Vegas at around noon. Go eat then check in at Mirage. Played a little blackjack there and then my buddy Cam and I decide to head over to Treasure Island to play poker. Cam gets sat immediately, I wait around 10-15 minutes. Buy in for $300 (max) at 1/2 NL I sit down and after a few hands realize I am surrounded by donks. I win my first hand with J3 in BB when J flops, and I bet flop turn river to be called everytime, player mucks. From then on, I was catching cards and hitting flops and getting paid everytime. Everyone would call anything, but if bet right could be bluffed very easily. Made me feel like an amazing poker player, but really the poor quality of play allowed really allowed me to easily win. Played for a few hours and cashed out up $290, buddy Cam cashes out over 300 at a different table.
Day 2:
Technically Saturday morning at 2 am, decide to head to Caesars for some late night action, hoping to catch some drunkards coming out of Pure. Unfortunately so did every other shark in Vegas. Maybe only 1 or 2 fish the whole time. Buy in for $400, and later add on for another $100 ($500 max buy in) for 1/3 NL. Made a big mistake of limping with AJ clubs under the gun. Was trying to trap at that time because there was so much raising. J 10 5 flops with one club. simply call $10, then it was raised to 30, and i call that too. Praying for no K or Q, but sure enough a K clubs comes. Bet is $60 and I call with flush draw and original top pair top kicked on flop. Reraised to 120, I call again because I felt the pot numbers were right with 2 other people in the hand. River is a blank, bet is all in, and I am forced to fold. Winner turns over Q 9 for a straight, beating another guy with 10 5 two pair. I go on tilt, extremely mad at myself for completely misplaying that hand so terribly and having it cost me over half my chip stack. A little later I find KJ diamonds and I raise to 15. Get two callers. Flop A 10 3 with a diamond. First to act bets 25, I mean to raise to 75, but accidently string bet. So I just call, but it looks like I'm raising. Guy next to me calls $25 as well. Next card is a 7 non diamond First guy checks, this time I fire 75, get insta called by last to act, and first to act folds. River is an A, and I check and fold to a measly $50 bet knowing I'm beat. Guy shows pocket 3s. Very tilted right now. I am card dead however, so I can't do much anyways, I hit quad 10s, but don't get much out of it (no high hand jackpot because only one hole card played. Cam pulls off a beautiful bluff against a weak player (pocket 9s with board of 10 2 3 5 A), guy laid down A 10. I feel card dead and am short stacked so I cash out around $150 (so -$350 total). Cam cashes out about even. Still tilted and blow $100 on 7 handed electronic blackjack at $2 a hand, then go to bed.
Day 2 (Afternoon): Cam and the girls decide to head to the Mirage pool, I decide to walk to MGM. After realizing how far, and hot it was, I decide to go to the next casino I see and low and behold its Planet Hollywood. Get seated at a 1/2 table (buy in of 300 max) with a few fish and a few average players. I play out of my mind and am up around $400 from playing well. Then I start to roll. I pick up QQ and raise to 10, get called by one player who is pretty solid. Q 10 4 all diamonds come. I bet 50 trying to push him off a potential flush draw, but he calls. 9 of spades on turn and I go all in to make sure he doesn't chase diamond draw, and I am pretty confident he doesn't have flush. He thinks for a while and I start talking to him, and he informs me he does not have a diamond which is a huge relief to me. I think he has two pair or something pretty strong so I start guessing he is weak, eventually, he says he has to call and he flips over pocket 4s. The set of Queens holds up, and I pick up a nice $400 pot. A few hands later I raise with AQ to 10 and BB calls. A hearts Q hearts 6 spades comes out. I bet 50, trying to push off flush draw again, but he calls. J heart turns so I check and he bets 100. He only has about 50 behind, and I have a gut he doesnt have the flush so I reraise him all in. He flips over AJ, and my AQ holds up. Another 400 pot. Two sharks at my table try to tempt me to go play 2/5 with them, but I decline although I was sorely tempted. I cash out with $1k profit and am glad I stumbled into Planet Hollywood.
Day 2/3: Go out with Cam to go play poker although we were not sure where. Get to Bellagio at around 10 pm and it is packed solid. Rude management and a long wait and not feeling a good vibe has us leave. We try to decide between Ballys and Planet Hollywood and boy am I glad once again we chose Planet Hollywood. I have one solid hand the whole night, but it counted. I raise under the gun with pockets 9s to 15 and I am reraised to 30. 2 others call, so already $120 in pot. Flop is 9 clubs 8 hearts K hearts, I breathe a sigh of relief. First to act goes all in for about $130. Next to act is same guy I busted with set over set earlier in the day and he thinks forever and finally folds (he told me later he folded AK), I call, and some english idiot next to me calls and begins to flip over his cards and has to be stopped. Turn is an 8 and I push all in, he calls with QJ hearts, river is meaningless, and I win a 6-700 pot wow (could have been almost 1k if AK had called). From then on I am completely card dead, and lose 100 over the next few hours. I find AK two hands in a row only to hit air and get pushed out! Finally I find QQ and I raise to 10, and get reraised to 30, which I call. Flop is 9 9 4 rainbow, I fire in 50 which gets insta called, and I am worried about KK or AA. turn is a J, and I put him all in for about 150. He thinks and calls, and flips over AK! River is clean, and I take another big pot. I end up cashing about $400+ profit, and Cam takes about a $150 profit as well.
Great first trip, ending up with around +1400 total for the weekend in poker. Am going back next weekend,so stay tuned!

  1. Great report. I played at PHo for the first time during my last trip out, and found the cash games to be just as soft as you did. Screw the $5 rake, the action is worth it!
