Good(Flamingo) and bad(Imperial Palace)
Went out for work. They paid for the flight and hotel so I had no choice but to stay at the Flamingo. Yes I did attend my meetings at Anthem country club. I have stayed at the Flamingo before and had a great time.
The first night I walked over to the Imperial Palace poker romm which I had never played at before. But after reading good and bad reviews I thought I should see for myself. Well all I can say is I'm glad there are other options. They had 3 tables going. 1 no limit, which was full, and 2 2-4 limit games. Only thing was only 1 of the 2-4 games was playing, and only with 6 people. The other table had 4 people and were trying to wait until they had 6 to start. Don't understand that but I guess I don't run the joint. So I sat at the running game for about and hour and saw the dealers flip up 5 or 6 cards when dealing the players hole cards, a miss read that I caught and the dealer gave me a dirty look when I pointed it out, and basically attitudes that they or the room manager didn't want to be there. Nuff said.
Overall lost $20.
After that nightmare I headed back to the Flamingo to see about getting in a no limit game. They had a total of 5 live tables going as well as their nightly 6pm tourney. After I checked in the manager said there was a list of 4 for a 1-2 no limit$200 max buy in and he also informed me that it wouldn't be that long since bustouts at the tourney would be happening. So I sat down about 10 minutes later for and enjoyable 6hour session. Was up anyhere from $150-350 for the duration but left at the +$170 mark.
After my meeting the 2nd day I actually went to play at Caesar's but did not want to wait for 1 hour. So back at the Flamingo I went. Played about an 8 hour session with some great cards and some really loose fish and left +$670. That could have been better except for a real tough beat on a $350pot. I was big blind and checked my J5 with 5 others. Flop came J55. WooHoo! Smallblind bet out $10 and I call to see what the other 3 palyers would do. 2 folds and a raise! Small blind called the $20 raise and then I rereaised another $30. Raiser folded as he was just trying to steal the pot but the small blind called. I figured him for a jack. 4th street was a 6 and he checked. I bet out $50 and he called. River was a 6 and he goes all in. ?? I thought about it and called his last $60. He turns over 67!! Nice call before the turn for $60 total with 7 high. Oh well.
After the hoops games, craps table, and blackjack I left up $450.00. Very professional staff at the Flamingo. No bad mistakes and they generally acted like they wanted to be there. Decent time on drink service but nothin to look at. High hand jackpot is good.
