Harrah's 11am no limit tournament
I played in Harrah's 11am no limit tournament for my first experience at live tournament play. The buy in was $40 and you got 1500 in chips. They had around 65 players and 1st place paid $1250. I thought the blind structure was decent allowing you to play conservative and not force anything too quickly. They start at 25/50, and go uo every 20 minutes. You cab rebuy once up until the first break at 12:00pm. I played a few stupid hands early and was down to around 1000, but was dealt AA on one hand and made a K high flush on another to build my stack to 4000 by the break. I lost a couple of tough hands close to the second break(1pm) and went all in with around 1200 as the blinds were getting high(300/600). I lost with J9 unsuited and the other 2 who called had AQ, KQ and the flop came 10, 10, 10. Turn and river were garbage cards and I was out. There were still 4 tables going, not all full, so I figure I finished around 30-36th or so. Not bad for 1st time. The tournament was pretty organized, dealers were good, and the drink service was good as well.
