Lots of Rooms....Small Profit 2/16-2/20
5 Day trip with family and friends. One of the guys that came with me was a friend who is fairly new to poker and had never been to Vegas. We both had limited bankrolls and spent most of our time playing 2/4, 3/6, and 2/6 spread.
Saturday- Arrived early and checked in using airport check in at MGM Grand. Headed down to the mid strip area and instantly got into a 2/4 game at IP. Up, down, and then back up for a small profit but I'm in Vegas and life is good.
Sunday- Played a short session for a small loss at IP during the afternoon while the rest of my party played table games at O'Sheas. Lots of fish and players chasing everything. Quote of the day was a woman who clearly had no idea what she was doing said "it just gets boring when I have to wait 3 or 4 hands to play so I end up just playing whatever I get." I suppose thats what you get playing 2/4. She cracked my queens with her 2 pr of 10s and 3s from EP. We left IP and walked down to TI. Again played 2/4. Pretty decent session. but couldnt catch anything. I asked for any AVPers but no one there was a member. Played for a while and my friend and brother decided they had enough. Left TI and headed down to Sahara. They had 2 games of 2/4 going so my friend and I split up. Apparently he picked the right seat. I lost about $40 in just under an hour playing some decent cards but not flopping anything. He wins over $100 by catching just about every hand and every flop.
Monday- We got up early and played in the Mandalay Bay $40 tourney. Not bad. Well run. Caught a hand early but finished 12/30. Aggressive blind structure makes it tough to play real poker but my friends/family wanted a cheap tourney just to get some action. Monday night was the best nite of poker from a fun standpoint. Played a 6 hour session of 2/4 at MGM. Same table almost all nite. We started the table and when I got up there were 5 of the original 10 still there. Lots of fun. Up and down and finally back up for a small $20 profit, but it sure beats a kick in the pants. Lost a huge hand when my kings and my buddy's jacks full boat were both beat by a woman who flopped quads. I guess thats poker. Great session from a fun standpoint
Tuesday- Went downtown to play at Binions. I have wanted to do this for a while. Took a while to get into a game and we had to get back to check in for our flights on southwest. Won $60 at the 3/6 game in about an hour. It was a lot of fun. Good table if you are patient. The night cap was the first experience of 2/6 spread at Excalibur. I LOVE THIS GAME. I dont have the bankroll for NL yet, but I really wanted to play a game where I could show some strength. Great game for a player like me. Made some more profit and headed to bed.
Wed- No poker but we played $3 craps at Casino Royale. I highly recommend this. Great odds and if you are there, seek out Patty the cocktail waitress. She is AWESOME. Honestly the best waitress that I have ever found in the whole city.
All in all a fun trip with no real loss to speak about and a good time. Unfortunately our flight was delayed coming back and even worse than that, we left 60 degree weather for 10 degree weather in Ohio. Cant wait to get back.
Thanks for the TR, sounds like you had a blast, nice to hear you had such a fun trip and enjoyed playing the spread limit game.
They have almost exclusive 2-6 spread limit in Laughlin and I had a blast playing that our last trip. At least you can usually thin the field a bit w/ your big pairs leading out w/ that $6 preflop bet compared to the monster $2 lead-out in 2/4, lol
Even better than that, if you have late position, you can make it $10+ to see the flop when you do have a monster hand !!! Not quite NL, but for someone like me I dont have to worry about going broke if I run into quads or another monster. Glad you enjoyed it !!
@BigSlickSuited
It's not always about $1k losses Thanks for the report!

This was my favorite part. High ROLLAH!!! I think I remember Patty from my blackjack switch experiment in Casino Royale. She was money.
