Memorize the Back of those Cards at hte IP
I played mainly limit at the IP and some low buy in tourneys at O'Sheas, IP, and Riviera.
The IP tournament structure had changed from last trip to a confusing buy in and add on type. It was pretty much chaos surrounding the first break when both the add on and rebuy needed to be completed. Confusion reigned. The add on didn't do much because after the break the blinds were so high that there was not much value added for the extra ten bucks. I guess I prefer freeze outs so I only played that silly tournament once. I then played a couple of tournaments at O'Sheas and Riviera early in the week. Not a tremendous amount of participation so they basically turned into one table tournaments. I won the Riviera tournament for my first ever tourney win in Vegas. I qualified for a free roll in December but turned it down because I don't live there.
The limit game at the IP was the same as normal. Could not get into a game on the first night and could not get aces cracked the next morning but was able to crack kings a couple of other times for others. Only a slight loss overall. The most interesting event was the darker WSOP cards were getting beaten up by the shuffler. It was mentioned that a card looked weird but the floor said "they are all like that" so kept it in play. Well, they are not all like that as the person I was with was able to correctly determine when I had the ace of spades and the eight of hearts. Kind of an advantage if you care enough before you fold to check out the backs. You might be able to tell if your neighbor has the ace of spades!
I know some old guys that have trouble reading the face side of the cards(A4 i hought i had AA) so i find that not many people will be able to figure out what the cards are by a few woren spots on the back sides...some players can't even see the middle of the table...how can they see clear arcoss the table....
well anyway thanks for the tip,but think i'll pass
@fatb
OMG, I did this myself once and Mr. L doesn't let me forget it!
If they won't bring a setup at your request for this, rack up and leave. (BTW...I hate people that request setups just because they're card dead.)
I had a funny situation with a marked card at the local card room. I'd been playing at the same table for about 5-6 hours. The jack of spades had a mark on the face of the card, not the back of the card. Obviously it wasn't visible unless it was on the board, tabled at showdown, or dealt to you during the course of the game.
A trucker joined the game at about 1:00 in the morning. One of his very first hands he limps along with almost everyone else at the table. He then asks the dealer, "Do you guys want to know if one of the cards has a mark on the face of it?"
The dealer says, "You probably shouldn't have said that."
Trucker: "Why?"
Dealer: "Because now everyone else knows what one of your cards is."
Trucker (looking around the table): "Really? Is that true?"
Table in unison: "Jack of spades."
The dealer then proceeded to put out the board: Jack of clubs, jack of diamonds, four of hearts. Trucker bets and everyone else insta-mucks almost simultaneously and he raked in his like $10 pot.
